www.hartera.com www.myspace.com/harterafest HARTERA PROMO PARTIES This year, Hartera is hitting both New York City and San Francisco to reveal the festival's visual identity... they'll also have special deals on two-day passes for just $60 (keep in mind, if you wait until the actual dates, the price jumps to $73 at the booths), plus info stations to answer whatever questions you might have.
On May 24th , we're hosting Andy Gardiner at the Aquarius in NYC. He's a Brit living in France, better known as Vicarious Bliss. Working under the legendary Ed Banger umbrella, his blend of electro and pop has been tearing up club floors and topping charts on elite alternative stations—even BBC Radio 1 named his "Theme from Vicarious Bliss EP" Record of the Month. Heavy hitters like Dave Clarke, Paul Woolford, Justice, and Lifelike have all jumped on his remixes... and his studio magic has lent itself to names like n*e*r*d-a, Ladytron, Mystery Jets, Sebastien Tellier, Yuksek, Kida Loco, and Rhinocerose. As for his DJ sets? Honestly, enough hype was generated by his set at that club in Austin last year to call it the best event of the entire season!
Besides Vicarious Bliss, the "Sicko Disco meets Hartera" lineup features the wild female trio Ottawa Starka, the Mexico City-based Banana Rave DJs, Arszenik from San Francisco, and our host, Marmat. Entry is $20 before midnight and $23 after.
On May 30th , things move to Monvi in San Francisco, where Amor, Bebetto, Boo Dale, and Fryer take over the decks... while the Hartera info booth will be right there with the festival tickets and all the details you need. Party entry is $10.
Also on May 30th , the official promo party hits Opium in Miami. They won't have the discounted ticket deal there, but the party runs from 10 PM to 5 AM and it’s going to be intense, featuring A+ and Blackberry. Admission is $10.
GO TO HARTERA!!! The "Go to Hartera" contest—where we invited bands and DJs to apply for a slot at this year's festival—actually turned out to be a massive hit. During the two weeks it was open, the official Myspace page was flooded with over 100 applications from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, and even some inquiries from the UK, France, and Germany before the thing even officially launched... unbelievable.
After finally wrapping up the competition this past Wednesday, May 7th—following days of nonstop listening sessions and serious mental heavy lifting—we've finally narrowed it down. Out of about 70 bands and 30 DJs, here are our winners:
