I could use some advice here. A few years back, I noticed a tiny lump under the skin right where my neck meets my upper back. It’s grown since then—it's about three-quarters of an inch wide now. It feels firm, but it moves around when I touch it. My gut feeling is it's just a lipoma, but I'd love to hear from anyone who's dealt with this. What did you guys end up doing?
For what it's worth, I eat clean, hit the gym regularly, and my metabolism is solid.
Thanks.

I believe my godmother went through something similar. I can't quite recall the specific details of her situation, but if memory serves, she eventually opted for the surgical removal.

Fatty tissue. You can surgically remove it, or maybe it just... shifts. I had this on the back of my hand and it just sort of pulled away... honestly, I think I might have just hit my hand and it popped or dispersed or something...

It’s most likely just a lipoma—basically a little lump of fatty tissue. You can always have it surgically removed if it’s actually bothering you.

Thanks. Yeah, looks like a lipoma. I’m just stuck on whether I should actually touch it or leave it alone, since everything I read online contradicts itself. Does anyone know the specific medical terms for lipoma in English or German? I want to see what people are saying on those international forums.
Thanks

Whether you should mess with it or not is something any surgeon could give you a ballpark answer on. Just book an appointment for a consultation and go get it checked out.

Thanks, Angela Wright, but I’d rather get my facts straight before I head to my appointment. Does anyone know how you say lipom in English or German?
Thanks

Thanks

But what if I just don't want to get it checked out? I have something similar on my neck, though the little bump is a bit smaller... I think it popped up when I had a cold maybe two or three months ago, but it hasn't gone away. It’s not like it's actually bothering me, but if it could turn into something serious, maybe it would be better to just have it removed.....

It sounds like you've got a swollen lymph node stuck on your neck. You should go see a doctor and have them take a look.
