Angela Wright said:fadedmason, I don't mean to alarm you—I really don't—but if I were in your shoes, I’d definitely get the CA-125 markers checked. It’s just a matter of peace of mind to ensure nothing serious is stemming from the ovaries, especially considering the PCOS diagnosis.

Where can someone actually go to get those tests done? Is it possible to get a referral from a doctor, or should I just book it privately?

You can do it either way. If you use a referral from your doctor, you'll likely end up at a hospital where you might be stuck waiting because they don't always have the reagents in stock. If you go private, expect to shell out around $50. Just so we're clear, CA-125 is a tumor marker used to look for ovarian issues, though it can also react to other growths within the abdomen. It’s not a foolproof diagnostic tool—it can throw false positives, sometimes triggered by things like endometriosis (though based on the symptoms you listed, that doesn't seem to be the case here). Think of it less as a final answer and more as a compass; if it flags something, it tells you it's time to stop guessing and start digging deeper with more intensive testing.

It isn't a foolproof test—it can occasionally flag something that isn't actually there (or pick up on endometriosis, though based on the symptoms you listed, that seems unlikely)—but it serves as a vital compass. If there is an issue, it gives doctors the green light to start more intensive testing immediately.

Thanks so much!

fadedmason!
I’m truly sorry you’re dealing with all this. You’ve received some solid advice from the group already, but if I could add one thing: go see your primary care physician and ask for a referral for inpatient care. Don't just settle for some local community hospital; aim for a major medical center with top-tier internal medicine, hematology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology departments—think somewhere like the Mayo Clinic or Mount Sinai Hospital.
It could be anything, including something completely benign, but it really isn't our place as forum members to play doctor.
I don't know how old you are, but it could be something relatively minor like celiac disease. If you cut out gluten, things might clear right up. Don't let fear stop you; you need to get a definitive diagnosis.
Shoot me a DM if you need anything.

Good luck... 🙂
Thanks again...
I'll have to deal with this itching soon... the spots look exactly like ringworm...

but I gotta go deal with this itching—the spots look exactly like some kind of weird rash...

Good luck to you too, seriously hoping those test results come back totally fine.
