Screenshotting tips and tricks

How does one take a screenshot? I mean, how do you capture what's on the display and save it as a file?...

Just hit the Print Screen (Prt Scrn) key—it’s sitting right to the right of F12, above Insert, and to the left of Scroll Lock. Then, just open Paint, go to Edit -> Paste, and there you have it. 🙂
There are also some dedicated (free) programs out there specifically for this.

Hit Alt+PrtScr if you only want to grab the active window...

I’ve been using Adobe for a while now, and honestly, it’s been a total lifesaver 🙂

I don't want to clutter things up by starting a whole new thread, but does anyone know of a decent screen recording program? I'm looking for video, specifically something with plenty of levels per channel so the image doesn't end up looking like
