James Cameron's Sanctum (2010)

This movie is garbage... I've seen this exact same thing a hundred times before.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the movie is actually bad—it’s just... incredibly cliché. It’s certainly watchable enough if you have some time to kill, I suppose, but there isn't really anything particularly special about it.

Look, I'm not saying he isn't important or anything. It's more that Cameron didn't have much to do with this one. He produced certain parts, sure, but you just don't feel his presence anywhere in the movie. It doesn't feel like his creation at all... 😉

Honestly, it was just exhausting and boring. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it...

I just finished watching it, and man, it’s wild to realize my last time seeing this was back on March 2nd, 2011, and today is March 1st, 2013. Like, seriously, both viewings happened right at the start of March, can you believe that?

Watching it again after two years, I gotta say, the movie hits me exactly the same way—my impressions haven't changed one bit.

Yeah, I get that, but honestly, those visuals are just stunning, especially that cave and the shots looking at it from the outside and the inside... it's absolutely gorgeous.

Look, the movie had massive potential—you've got a story based on actual events, stunning locations with insane natural beauty, and some seriously high-quality cinematography.
But man, what a waste. All that visual stuff doesn't mean squat when the actual heart of the movie—the drama, the core writing—is totally hollow. The way they handle the relationships between people stuck in these extreme situations feels like some mediocre, low-budget Bollywood production. Seriously, there are moments where the characters act in ways that feel like a bad parody of real human behavior. It's painful to watch.
Even that veteran actor couldn't save this thing, though he actually tried; he was the only one who felt halfway decent compared to the rest of the cast.

To be fair, there are rare moments where they actually nail that claustrophobic feeling, which, along with what I mentioned earlier, is the main reason this isn't a total dumpster fire of a movie.
