What does a friends list actually mean?

Just click on someone's username if you want to toss them onto your friends list. It makes it a little easier to keep tabs on when they're actually logging on, giving you that sweet, sweet illusion of having actual internet buddies when, in reality, you're just staring at a screen alone. 😁😁😁
