Best screen recording software for background tasks?

So, I'm looking for some advice—what’s actually the best software out there for recording either a specific window or my entire screen?

Right now, I’ve been messing around with Adobe Premiere, but honestly, the whole thing starts lagging like crazy whenever I try to tackle a longer video clip.

Also, does anyone happen to know a better way to just grab stuff directly from YouTube?

I’ve always relied on Camtasia whenever I need to rip some online tutorials. It’s straightforward and honestly does the job just fine.

I’ve been using Camtasia myself, but I hit a massive wall whenever I try to record gameplay. My computer starts chugging hard, the game itself lags out, and the final video looks absolutely terrible.👎

Does anyone know of a program that can handle high-quality recording without absolutely murdering my CPU and RAM?😳 😳

The Unplug extension for Google Chrome is actually solid—it's that little green fish icon sitting up in the top right corner.

I’ve got a video downloader extension too, but honestly, Unplug just feels better.

As Big Smoke says, it's best to pull videos straight from the cache. Otherwise, you're just doubling your bandwidth usage...

I'm not sure I follow you. You mean OBS Studio is the software you're using to capture your screen? I actually just picked up an Intel microprocessor and stumbled onto this while looking things up...

Exactly. That is the most efficient method. I consistently use this approach for YouTube and it works perfectly; you might just need to adjust the file extension occasionally. 🙏

Once you find one, right-click it, select "Rename," and simply add the ".flv" extension to the end. You can change the filename itself, but that extension needs to stay ".flv"
You can find VLC Media Player on just about any download site; honestly, just typing "download VLC Media Player" into Google should do the trick...
