Bleeding around my fingernail: what could it be?

Lately, I have noticed that even the slightest nick near my nail area results in immediate bleeding. I am uncertain if this is due to a vitamin deficiency or some other underlying issue, and I would appreciate advice on how to prevent this.

I dealt with similar issues when I was young. I can't recall the exact extent of the bleeding or if it was caused by impact, but I know my nails eventually became infected, which led to surgery. Don't worry too much, though; it seems you aren't facing that level of severity. It's more likely your nails are just thin, making the pressure under the nail bed feel more intense upon impact.
