How many miles is the loop around Central Park?

Does anyone actually know the exact distance for one lap around Central Park? I'm talking about the loop where the skaters head out through the main gate.

Which gate are you talking about???

If you take the inner loop—following the path along the south side, then heading east and hitting the northern path alongside the road—it's roughly 3.7 miles. The outer loop, if you head south via the roadway, is a bit longer, maybe around 4.0 miles. That's my best guess... does anyone have the precise measurement?

Wait, if I remember correctly, the roller skating path doesn't even make a full loop—it actually cuts off right near the Shark, doesn't it?

Whatever. Either way, the Shark area is located past where the bike path ends. It’s pretty stupid. The whole point of a path like that is to be continuous so you can actually get some laps in without hitting a dead end.

What’s your typical time for a quick loop around Central Park on rollerblades?

I picked up the pace a bit yesterday—hit 19 minutes for the first lap and shaved it down to 18 for the second...

I usually stick to the "yellow" line (hehe), though I think feralheron16 might have a point—we’re talking maybe 6.5 to 4.4 miles... why not just take the car out and check for yourself? (hehe)
I think I heard somewhere that the inner loop is 3.7 miles, the outer road is 8, and this middle one (the yellow one) is around 7.
