Day two in San Francisco is Jojo Mayer's Nerve—Drum and Bass straight out of NY. I think Jojo is basically the top drummer for that whole movement.👍

Preparation for the party smash, this year's premier summer coastal festival taking place June 22nd and 23rd in Small Town, USA, is in full swing. As expected, interest is surging—not just because of the massive lineup featuring some 20 performers, but also due to the unique open-air venue and highly affordable ticket prices. Just a reminder: promotional ticket sales launched yesterday at only $33 for a two-day pass. After June 4th, pre-sale begins, where single-day tickets will be $25 and two-day passes $43.

To make the wait for the party more engaging, the organizers have put together several timely and interesting educational workshops: a media guerrilla framework, DJing and VJ workshops, photography, juggling, and more. There are also several lectures and sports exhibitions planned, with the cornhole tournament being a particular highlight.
The fee for each workshop is $17, and participation is limited to 10 people per session. Workshops will be held at the Spirit association space (123 Main St, Cleveland) between June 4th and June 15th during afternoon and evening hours. media guerrilla framework
Designed for aspiring creators of digital broadcasts, this workshop offers the tools needed for creative action while laying the groundwork for producing original musical and other audio content. During the sessions, participants will develop podcast content based on their own ideas and actively participate in building all necessary elements. The workshop is moderated by the Spirit-AWE team ( www.poriluk.com - Igor Lalić, Denis Pilepić, and guest Damir Kustić). The workshop will take place on June 4th, 5th, and 6th.

DJ workshop
Mirko Trkulja (DJ Matto Defou), an alumnus of the SAE Institute and a well-known Cleveland DJ, will introduce students to the world of DJing across several levels. Topics range from the theory of how gear functions to vinyl mixing techniques and an introduction to the sophisticated digital tools used by today’s top global artists. This workshop will run on June 13th, 14th, and 15th.

VJ workshop
Cleveland video artists lole.kee.bolek (Aleks Katunar and Igor Crnković) will teach participants the fundamentals of video—including motion imagery, video editing, software for material preparation, VJing techniques, and setting up a video set. Prior knowledge is required for this workshop, and participants should bring their own laptops. The workshop will be held on June 7th, 8th, and 9th.

Photography
Cleveland artist Kristijan Vučković will reveal the analog and digital secrets of his studio, demonstrating useful tricks for the digital darkroom using Adobe Photoshop. This workshop will take place on June 10th, 11th, and 12th.

Here’s the report from the latest "introduction to party" held on May 25th at the San Francisco shipyard.

What even the Vinkovci mother couldn't pull off this year at the San Francisco shipyard, Ajs Nigrutin & Timbe managed to do during the last "introduction to party." Honestly, this duo pulled the biggest crowd out of all the concert events at the shipyard this year.
Unfortunately, breaking the club's attendance record coincided with the hottest day of May, so besides treating the people from San Francisco to the best hip-hop, we basically gave them a refreshing American sauna...

You could tell something wasn't quite right that night when we rolled up to the club around 9:00 PM. There were about a hundred people just hanging out outside the doors, waiting for the club to open (at 11:00 PM!!).
The sheer excitement and interest in the guests from Mexico—mostly the younger hip-hop fans—waiting at the shipyard gates felt like a meeting between Gulliver and Lilliputians. Of course, the photo ops followed: hugging, signing skin and clothes, and all sorts of weird requests for shady business... The most aggressive ones were definitely the ladies.
To try and stop the hysteria before it started, we decided to grab some beers on one of the city terraces, but even that didn't work. We picked a terrace right on the San Francisco Boardwalk, so everyone just kept coming up and adding to the madness.

And finally, the show. It kicked off with the opening act, Why Not?, who did an incredible job setting the stage for the euphoria that followed.
There's no point listing all the hits Ajs and Timbe played, but it's worth mentioning they were both in high spirits, constantly talking to the crowd and pushing everyone to let loose.
Since they’re both seasoned veterans, they remembered that May 25th is a day for youth. In the absence of a torch relay, Timbe handed Ajs the "cigarette of youth," explaining that cigarettes are what keep him eternally young. He then asked the whole crowd to light up their cigarettes and lighters, just to warm the planet by one more degree and help out with global warming...
They also shared some lessons on Bad Copy dancing between songs, since BC dance covers several disciplines depending on what you want to achieve—impressing someone, calling for rain, or whatever else.
One of the funniest moments was when Timbe announced his five-minute set by saying: "And now, a Timbe song that absolutely nobody knows!!!" The crowd reacted like he had just said: "And now, the biggest global hit in history that everyone knows!!!" And sure enough, it was a Timbe song that literally nobody knew.

After they ran through their hour and twenty minutes of material—and the crowd still couldn't get enough—they asked the DJ to play the opening act's track so they could freestyle over it for a bit. To wrap things up, they played Uno, due, tre and the Bad Copy Party (without Vikler, obviously), which was plenty for such an awesome night.
All in all, the best possible "introduction to party." Just happy knowing these two will be showing up at the actual "party" too...

Wait, so Pendulum is just a DJ set, not an actual band? 😳

Honestly, just having Pendulum or even Noisia on the first day is plenty for me. It’s going to be absolute madness. They're easily two of the biggest names in Drum and Bass—okay, maybe not the *absolute* biggest in the world, but close enough. The best part? We're getting both. 🙂

According to the organizers, the RI rock association and Masa:kru, preparations are in full swing and interest is surging. Beyond Chicago and Cleveland, one-day or two-day passes can be picked up in various other American cities. Pre-sale tickets are priced at $25 for a single day or $43 for the full weekend, while during the »party smash«, daily passes will go for $28 and two-day passes for $50.
The first day of the »party smash« is dedicated to electronic music, headlined by the production trio currently sitting at the top of the global drum and bass scene – »Pendulum«. Joining them on night one are the Dutch drum and bass trio »Noisia«, along with MC Versa, funk guru, May, Sven Nalis, Ajs Nigrutin & Timbe, and »disco 'n' Action«. The headliner for day two is the legendary alternative band »NoMeansNo«, while the reggae group »Zion Train« travels from the United Kingdom to join them, featuring Tippa Iria—widely recognized for his hit »Hey mama« recorded with the Black Eyed Peas—and German woman Marlene Johnson. The lineup also includes Italy's »Talco«, Germany's »Monochrome«, Canada's »Shanti Nilay«, COG from the Midwest, Essence from the West Coast, and local heavyweights »Hesus Attor«, »Pasi«, and »One Piece puzzle«.
Leading up to the main event, several interesting workshops will run through June 15th. While the »media guerrilla framework« and VJ workshop are already wrapped up, a three-day photography workshop kicks off tomorrow. During this session, Cleveland artist Kristijan Vučković will pull back the curtain on his analog and digital lab secrets and share some pro tips for Adobe Photoshop. From June 13th to 15th, Mirko Trkulja, better known as DJ Matto Defou, will guide participants through the world of DJing. It’s a billion degrees outside, but the camp stays cool in the shade. 🙂

The gate camp opens this Friday, June 22nd, at 6:00 PM. We ask everyone to play by the rules regarding safety—specifically, no open fires and please leave the pets at home. Food and drinks will be available on-site 24/7. When you aren't swimming or catching some rays, you can kill time with various social games, like a cornhole tournament, or just hang out with the beach music lineup.

We strongly suggest taking public transit (the #32 bus will have extra service) or grabbing a taxi. Parking is non-existent, and we’d all prefer to avoid a massive traffic jam.
