For me, personally, I just spent the entire day sleeping... which isn't exactly a complaint—actually, it’s quite nice. I mean, what else are you realistically going to accomplish there anyway... 😁

I had surgery on my septum😬 for medical reasons. I wanted to get some cosmetic work done at the same time, but the doctor shot that idea down immediately. I’m grateful for what he did, even if my profile is still a bit of a sore spot for me... I've just learned to live with it. I was barely eighteen at the time, so my dad had to sign off on everything. Spent a week in the hospital. Waking up from anesthesia? Absolutely awful experience. And having those nasal tampons removed... honestly one of the worst things I've ever gone through. Then there were the bruises, and my whole face was swollen for about two weeks straight, maybe a few more days of slight swelling after that. Ever since the surgery, my nose has been way more sensitive. It aches when the weather changes—I know, I sound like an old lady, but it's true... it hurts when it's freezing outside, it hurts when I go diving, it even hurts if I bump it slightly. And the absolute worst part is that it didn't actually help all that much. If I had known what was coming, I wouldn't have done it. Even though I was operated on by one of the top surgeons in New York City, I got lucky. The girl in my room ended up swollen for two months and her entire face was covered in bruises.

So... yeah, I think I'm officially crossing nose surgery off my bucket list for the foreseeable future.

Look, if it’s a massive issue for you—whether it's health-related or just something that really eats at your confidence—then go ahead and do it. But if we're talking about a tiny little bump on your nose or something minor... honestly, I'd say skip it. I spent years obsessing over my own nose, but looking back now, it doesn't even seem that crooked anymore.😬 I'm actually glad I didn't get it fixed. I eventually just learned how to live with it...

I don't know, I was throwing up, had some mild amnesia (like, I have zero memory of when they actually woke me up, I just remember waking up in my room) and stuff like that. 😬

And no, I didn't get nose surgery. 😬 I mean, I'd want to, but I'm scared. So, no. 😬

I've been thinking about getting a nose job myself, but I'm totally lost on who to actually trust. I'm living over in Austria right now, so I have zero clue who the big names are in the US.
I was thinking maybe Toncic, he should be decent enough.
There's also some plastic surgeon out in Santa Monica, but honestly, who knows if they're actually any good?

Actually, I ended up throwing up twice myself—mostly just blood that had trickled down my throat during the procedure 😬—and I also woke up in my room. It wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be, if you ask me... 😛

Look, I can definitely help you out. I went to this incredible surgeon myself and I am beyond thrilled with the results (I'll shoot you a DM with his name). What blew my mind was that I felt like the only person there from the States... people are flying in from all over the globe just to see him. There were girls from Vienna, a few from the US, some from Canada, a girl from Cuba, even someone from Poland... I couldn't believe how famous he is internationally.

Basically, everyone flocks to him because they say procedures in the US are way cheaper... yet the doctors are just as skilled as anyone overseas. All in all, I’m super happy. The doctor is lovely (and honestly pretty hot, too, but unfortunately unavailable), and the accommodations were top-tier... I actually felt more pampered there than I do at home! The staff is incredibly attentive, which is huge in my book. I had such a massive panic attack right before my surgery that I almost pulled the whole thing off, but they talked me through it... and man, would I have regretted it if I hadn't gone through with it. I'm so much happier now.

Speaking of staff being kind... you mentioned that doctor in Santa Monica... I won't name names, but we're probably talking about the same guy. I ended up seeing him once by total accident since I live nearby... a friend of mine had an appointment... and let me tell you, he was so unpleasant and rude. Just awful. My friend ended up walking away from the whole thing in the end.

It’s not like my nose is crooked or anything—it just dips a little bit, which isn't even a huge deal. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the hassle. Plus, I can't stand blood, so I have a feeling the whole thing would end badly for me anyway. 🤣

Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind one day. But for now, fixing my nose definitely isn't part of my five-year plan.

I underwent surgery seven years ago, performed by Dr. Kinčl in New York City. Let me give you some unsolicited advice: stay far away from him. My nose turned out absolutely dreadful—the tip is bulbous and unsightly, and quite frankly, my breathing issues are just as bad now as they were before the procedure. To make matters worse, he is incredibly rude and lacks even a shred of basic courtesy. It honestly makes my stomach turn whenever I see him on television, acting all high and mighty and claiming he’s the only one in the USA with a plastic surgery license. Seriously, do NOT go to him.👎

Apparently, they have to slice open the base of your nose—right between the nostrils, down near the lip—and pull the skin up toward the top. It’s basically like trying to peel off a tight t-shirt, stretching all the way up toward your eyes.
I guess it sounds way more intense than those sanitized little photos of people just sitting there with bandages on.

A close friend of mine actually had to go in for surgery on this, and honestly, we were all teasing her at first, joking that she was just making up some weird deviated septum issue, until it turned out she actually had some pretty serious underlying problems. The whole procedure ended up taking about two hours.
She stayed in the hospital for a few days, and nothing too crazy happened, except for when they had to remove the nasal tampons; she told me she was in so much pain she almost lost it, and they practically had to lay her down to get through it.
For a little while after that, she dealt with some bruising on her face, so she had to be really careful to avoid the sun and even sleep on ice packs just to make sure she didn't crush her nose or anything, but she's doing absolutely wonderful today.

That procedure isn't used for every case. Do not scare people if you aren't certain about the specifics.

Yikes!!! A few people actually gave me quite a scare... Even though I consider myself pretty brave and don't live in some fantasy world. hehe.
I just wanted to get a little rhinoplasty to fix a bump on my nose, nothing more... Does that really cause that much swelling, or is it just the deviated septum?
Also... does anyone have experience getting this done at a standard hospital rather than a private clinic? How long is the wait time and what kind of pricing should I expect at a public facility?

I had my surgery about three years ago. The actual procedure lasted roughly an hour and a half. I arrived at the doctor's office at 9:00 AM and was already heading home by 6:00 PM. I went back the next day just to have the packing removed, and then six days later, they took off the cast.

Even though I visited the clinic for my procedure and I'm still not entirely thrilled with how my nose turned out, I would honestly tell anyone else weighing their options to just go for it. The actual surgery and the recovery process aren't nearly as terrifying as people make them out to be. At the end of the day, if it means you'll feel better about yourself and walk with a bit more confidence, then it's absolutely worth the trouble.😉

Why would anyone go through the hassle of getting a nose job? Unless there’s a legitimate medical issue involved (and honestly, looking in the mirror, I sometimes think mine looks like a giant potato, but whatever)

Then you walk out the door and immediately have to throw a hat on your head just to hide it

Or you tell them you want a nose like Sharon Stone, only to end up with a look that ten other girls in the city already have. Then you can't even decide on it because you're stuck staring at a face that looks like those boots you saw on ten other girls, and you can't commit because you actually want to be unique...

Just try viewing it as your own personal fashion accessory instead.
