As far as I’m concerned, we’re on the exact same page.
The vibes were just different back in the day during the Kulušić and Lapidary era—I think that’s when MTV actually started experimenting with synths, which kicked off the whole stereo movement, if my memory serves me right. 😕
Even those shows at the mountain resort, like "Vila Rebar," were solid. 😬
And honestly, the only decent party I ever caught at the state fair was Deja Vu.
All this modern "future shock" stuff is just a joke.
Back then, there was a time when everything felt perfect—I actually looked forward to going out because I knew I was going to have a hell of a time.
But nowadays? It’s just the same old MTV crowd, the same people, plus a bunch of new kids—and by kids, I mean literal middle schoolers 🙄, all with their trendy hairstyles and pacifiers, or just these meathead guys walking around shirtless... it honestly makes me sick.
That wasn't the scene before.
And the music isn't even the same anymore.
I really don't get why everyone is obsessed with this electro stuff—it's such weak, mindless music.
That’s exactly why I don't bother going out anymore. I’d much rather stay home and watch a good movie with my friends.

Everything is exactly the same as it always was... these kids today are having the same kind of hell-raising fun we did back in the day... electro might be garbage, but hard techno and progressive trance aren't necessarily bad, you just have to actually appreciate the music, you know? Obviously, without all that pseudo-PLUR nonsense fueled by euphoric rushes or heatstroke from amphetamine use or whatever brainwashing substances they're on.🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I don't know, feels different to me. After all this time, the scene just spread too thin. Now you get every random person showing up to a party, whereas back then, it was actually people who lived and breathed it. That's why the best parties are still the ones capped at maybe 200 people.

I suppose I’d agree with most of what’s been written here, though I still feel like things used to be a little different—everything felt somewhat more intimate, you know? You actually knew every other person there. We had places like: Cassie, Kulušić, the Factory, MTV (New York City), Stella Maris, Up & Down, Shakespeare, Ace (San Francisco), Arsenal, Belvedere, or whatever it was called (Key West), Aurora (Santa Barbara), the Chapel, or Night (Miami)... and where are all those summer parties on Maui, Oahu, Manhattan, or Auburn now? Anyway, I guess it’ll never be quite like it was; we're getting older, new kids are coming up, and all that...

You show up to a party and you realize the entire culture is being swallowed whole by chemicals—we're talking massive, overwhelming amounts. Oh, come on... I don't think I could ever truly say goodbye to the party scene. It’s basically what defined a huge chunk of my life over the last decade or so. Of course, I’m not hitting every single event like I used to—that would be a bit much—but still... Even today in San Francisco, I know maybe 20 or 30 people who still show up to these things with that same old energy they had ten years ago (which, honestly, feels like a pretty small number), but even then, we can always make each other laugh... isn't that enough? Isn't that the whole point?
