I’m curious to hear about your experiences combining sports with contact lenses. How do they actually hold up when you're out running, playing soccer... or even basketball? I’d pull the trigger on contacts in a heartbeat if it meant I could finally be active without my glasses constantly sliding down my nose or getting in the way of everything.

My bad on the typo! I guess I spend way too much time playing Counter-Strike instead of paying attention to my spelling.🙂

I have never had an issue with them. They are certainly a better option than glasses; I never understood people who work out while wearing them...

That sounds awesome! 👍 Honestly, you won't even think about them once they're in.
The only thing might be cycling—you have to watch out for dust getting in your eyes, similar to how wind affects you, but you can always just throw on some sunglasses or wrap-around sports shades.

If this is strictly for athletics, I’d suggest looking into daily disposables—that way, you only pop them in when you're heading out to play.
Just make sure to check with an eye doctor if switching back and forth between contacts and glasses is totally fine for your specific prescription; I wouldn't want to give you bad advice. 😉

The only real headache might be while cycling—kind of like dealing with wind—because dust can get in your eyes. But honestly, you can just throw on some sunglasses or those cycling goggles.

If it's just for sports, I'd suggest looking into daily contacts—you just pop them in when you're active.
Just double-check if you can mix contacts and glasses together; I wouldn't want to give you bad advice. 😉

Why wouldn't you be able to combine contacts and glasses? It’s the most logical thing ever: when you aren't wearing contacts, you wear glasses.
The only real issue with biking is maybe the wind and dust, but that's hardly a dealbreaker.
And you can always just grab some dailies. You can find them online at www.lensway.com, order them, and they'll show up in a week.

That doesn't apply to every type of lens or every pair of glasses out there! 😉

Look, I never said it was impossible—in fact, I think it's totally doable—but I'm not an eye doctor. I'm just speaking from my own experience, and honestly, your optometrist isn't going to bite if you ask them for their professional opinion!

And whatever you do, don't go ordering lenses online before actually getting an eye exam. Not even the dailies!

I never said it was impossible—I actually think it’s doable—but I'm hardly an eye doctor. Besides, an optometrist isn't going to give you a gold star for asking that kind of thing!

And honestly, you really shouldn't be ordering lenses online before getting a proper exam. That goes for daily disposables too!

I disagree. Contact lenses aren't meant to be worn 24/7; they're a supplement to glasses. When your eyes get tired, you just swap them out for frames. It's not like you're supposed to walk around blind... 🤣

I wasn't suggesting anyone should DIY their prescription and order stuff from some random website. I'm just throwing out an idea because if you go into a high-end boutique in the States, they'll absolutely fleece you for those lenses. Not to mention trying to upsell you a bunch of useless junk along the way.

Look, for me personally, my doctor actually told me to avoid wearing glasses whenever possible. I only pull them out for specific situations. My eyes—and honestly, my brain—get way more fatigued from the glasses than they ever do from contacts, and they give me massive headaches.😉

Yeah, but you also have those specialized sports goggles designed for athletics. If anyone’s interested in more info, just shoot me a DM—this thread isn't really about eyewear. I wear them myself and know exactly where to grab a pair without getting ripped off.

This topic is outdated. A relevant discussion regarding UFOs already exists, so I'm locking this one down.
