How do I fix page numbering in Word?

Maybe I'm just missing something obvious, but I can't figure this out. How do I start page numbering at 1, but specifically starting on the THIRD page?😠
I managed to get the numbers to start as 1, 2, 3... on the third page, but the first two pages still show 1 and 2. It's driving me crazy.😲

It goes something like this:

1. Navigate your way to the top of page three, then go ahead and insert a section break. When the prompt pops up asking which type you'd like, just select "continuous." At that point, you’ve effectively created a second section that kicks off right there on the third page.

2. Once you're on that page, head over to the "View" tab and select "Header & Footer." A dialog box will appear, and this is where one must be particularly careful—you see, by default, the software assumes you want everything linked to what came before. You really ought to click that fourth icon located just to the left of the "Close" button to deselect that link; only after doing so can you properly insert a page number and instruct the program to start the count at 1.

And that should settle the matter entirely.
