2007 Men's World Handball Championship: Germany

WC 2009 in America.

That’s where Balic is gonna hand the torch over to Duvnja.

The World Cup was basically bought on credit, fueled by nothing but pure faith.

Now we’re looking at the massive task of building an 18,000-seat Arena and several other state-of-the-art facilities across America.

But honestly, I’m actually a little nervous thinking about what that tournament will look like. You’ve got Balic and his crew leading the charge, paired with these young lions who will be around 21 or 22 by then. We're talking Blazevic, Tojsic, Duvnjak—it’s a total overhaul of the veteran squad. This kid Tojsic, man, he has a cannon in his hand; a classic left-handed shooter. He could easily be the next Lackovic.

Then you’ve got Strlek and Cupic holding down the wings. Right now, Strlek is arguably the best left wing in the world for his age group. As for Cupic, he's just starting to make waves in Austria, but I'd bet he's among the elite of his generation too—he just needs to prove it one more time. He was already part of the dream team during the last Euro.

This is a win because we’re finally getting a new arena built. The old local stadium is completely run down and past its prime.

I'm totally on board with getting the hosting rights too. It forces their hand to actually build the arenas, otherwise they’re just gonna lose the whole championship bid anyway...

This is easily the best news we’ve had since the 1987 World University Games.

The local arena management can finally breathe a sigh of relief because the current facilities—all three of them—are in such complete shambles that it’s honestly a miracle the roof hasn't collapsed onto the floor yet.

This is really the only way to actually build a 20,000-seat Madison Square Garden type venue. Local government and the feds have the funds; they just need to apply that kind of pressure whenever a massive international organization comes knocking.
It already gives me chills thinking about our national team playing every single match in front of 20,000 fans who are all hungry for a comeback.😉

Joe, if we manage to land the 2012 Soccer Euro...🙂

Is there any way to follow today's finals? Maybe a live score or something?
