Alcohol allergy?

Is this actually happening?
(I honestly can’t believe I’m dealing with this after years of drinking 😲 )
A few times now, whenever I’ve gone out, I’ve noticed these red blotches breaking out all over my face, only to fade away by the end of the night. I’ve been drinking the same stuff for years, so it makes zero sense why my body is suddenly reacting to booze like this. The other day I had a beer and felt perfectly fine.
But one shot of vodka and I look like a total mess with these spots everywhere.
Has anyone else run into something similar...?

Yeah, it could totally be the tyramine—there’s a decent amount of that in wine. Honestly, though, I feel great after a little bit of Pinot Noir... smooth as a baby's bottom!

I have a friend who doesn't touch alcohol at all. He’s actually allergic to just about everything except for one specific brand of beer. I can't even remember which one it is. But honestly? It’s entirely possible.

Though, let’s be honest—even if I were allergic, I’d probably just push through it. After three cold beers, you stop giving a damn about anything anyway.

It’s actually quite possible. I have a friend who can sip just a tiny amount of red wine and suddenly her face is covered in these red blotches within seconds... She’s been dealing with this for about a year now. Eventually, she figured out that vodka doesn't trigger any reaction at all, so she just made the switch to vodka and called it a day. 🙂

For me, it’s always been about the vodka. I tried messing around with some beer again yesterday, but it just didn't hit the mark. At the end of the day, I still prefer vodka over beer.

That happens to me when I take a break from beer... then I'll have a few and turn bright red with spots all over my face. If I drink it regularly, it's no problem. So, what's the takeaway here? Drink more often.😬

I always mix mine with Schweppes. I’ve been drinking it that way for over two years now, so I have no idea where this sudden doubt is coming from.

Olivia Lopez41 tells me I need to stay hydrated more often. Believe me, I’m trying, man. I really am. 😬

My allergies aren't some valid excuse to stop betting. If anything, I'll just start placing my wagers in the dark.😁

Personally, I drink Schweppes all the time and my skin is flawless, so I'm certain it isn't the culprit here.

I was totally confused, just staring at her wondering what on earth was wrong. Then I went to the bathroom and saw why she freaked out. I actually headed down to the ER, but by the time I got there, the redness had already cleared up. The doctor checked my blood pressure and it was definitely elevated. Now, it happens almost every time I have a beer or some wine (I don't really drink anything else). I’m wondering what this actually is—maybe an allergy or something? I don't feel any different myself, but other people tell me I look flushed and have these spots all over my face.

A lot of people assume it's an alcohol allergy, but truth be told, it's actually a sulfite allergy since they use them as preservatives in alcoholic drinks. I'm allergic to them too. Just one tiny sip and my whole face, ears, and even a rash break out everywhere.

Look, I’m straight-up allergic to pure alcohol. Like, God forbid they densify anything with it—I’ll break out in a rash all over my entire body. Seriously. I’ve actually been through the tests and everything, so it’s confirmed. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if I actually drank something.
BTW, doctors caught this allergy when I was just a baby, and it didn't just disappear during puberty like they thought it would.

Sulfites are basically salts and esters derived from sulfurous acid. When you look at them as anions, they carry that sulfurous acid residue—specifically the SO32- sulfite ion. As for the esters, the general formula is R-O-S(=O)-O-R′, where R and R′ represent organic groups.

They’re mostly used as preservatives for things like wine, dried fruit, or even potato products.

I’ve been dealing with allergies for 20 years now—milk, egg whites, oranges, tangerines, chocolate, cocoa, synthetic stuff, blueberries, cigarettes, alcohol (as a whole), and basically anything containing preservatives... you're probably wondering what I actually eat? Honestly, I'm just surviving... and yet people claim they'd kill themselves if they were allergic to alcohol.
