..

Good point. 👍

The healthcare system really needs to be individualized... if a parent wants to give up their own medical care, they should just transfer those funds to their kid. Especially since those kids think they can cure rheumatism with prayer.

brisknomad6 said:- Are you seriously telling me that I, someone who works, makes a decent living, and pays my fair share of taxes and social security, should have to worry about whether some addict has a clean needle for tomorrow? Does he have any obligation to ensure I always have access to Voltaren? Or does he just not give a damn about anything else once he's high?

Also, will that addict suffer if I catch HIV because I didn't bother using a condom because I just wasn't feeling it?

Thirdly—tell me, because (I admit) I don't know—how aware is an addict after they shoot up? Are they more conscious when they're high? If so, why the hell wouldn't they just toss the syringe in a trash can instead of leaving it in the park?

And finally, drug addiction isn't something people are born with. Every addict (barring kidnapping or other extreme cases) becomes one through their own choices—ignorance, stupidity, whatever. So, forgive me if I don't want to punish my own negligence regarding drugs by letting someone destroy themselves on my dime...

PS: I don't hate addicts. I don't care about them or their need for clean needles (just like they don't care about me and my Voltaren). If they need stuff, let them buy it themselves. If it's for medical help, detox, or rehab, then YES, I'm in. But for subsidizing their easy high? NO WAY.

One dollar costs a cent. If they spend 5 million a year, that’s $0.33 per capita.

Look, you clearly have no clue what you're talking about, yet you love playing judge and jury. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people like you out there.

I pay tolls that go toward building highways. I pay at registration, I pay at the pump, and I pay again when I hit the interstate once or twice a year. And I pay the same amount as the guy driving on the highway every single day. I pay for a ton of other things I'd rather not pay for. People die on those roads. By your logic, I'm paying for people to die. Should I just tell them at my next registration that I'm not paying the toll because I don't want my money going toward people dying?🙄

I pay AT&T, and then they use that money to build infrastructure so people in my neighborhood can get internet. I'm not getting that service directly.🙄

Honestly, the amount of nonsense I have to read on this forum is terrifying.

And do you think I'm not paying for the heptanone or the Suboxone used to treat addicts lately?

Anthony Miller13 said:The whole point of busting users is just to harass them to get intel on the big players. Besides, even using the stuff is illegal anyway.
If a user like the one I’m picturing doesn't exist, then you're obviously implying there are wealthy users out there—because at the end of the day, you either have to be loaded or become a "criminal" just to score. And if I'm loaded, why would I need a dealer? I could just buy my own gear and keep a stash at home.
I still don't think those spots would see much action... especially once the cops start patrolling the area.

Man, some people are just so shallow.🤣

And don't come at me with that "be tolerant of everyone" nonsense; I'm talking strictly about ADDICTS!

Me? I've got zero tolerance for idiots.

Hannah Davis18 said:So you actually think every addict acts the exact same way?

Look, I couldn't care less about some theoretical profile of an addict. We’re talking about anything from a filthy, lowlife bum to a high-society doctor who’s been chasing a heroin high for twenty years. 👎

Now you tell me: does that doctor need a supervised injection site? Does she do her business in her bathroom at home, or in a stall at the office, or in a public park, or just out on the street? Does she need clean needles? And does she have a bank account with zero dollars in it, forcing her to steal medical supplies from her workplace just to get by? 🙄

Noah Myers8 said:I’d love to see how you all would react if someone you actually loved became an addict.🙄 A friend, a cousin, a brother, a sister—anyone close to you? Would you still be preaching about "dying for nothing" then?

If I had to sit there and watch someone close to me tear their own life apart right in front of my eyes, I don't think they'd ever see me again. ☕
If someone is hell-bent on destroying themselves one way or another, fine by me. I'm not going to stand in their way.

The only thing I’d be willing to provide for addicts at the taxpayers' expense is a dignified exit. 🥳

amberorca192 said:You think I don't pay for things like heptanone or lately, Subutex, which they use to treat addicts?

Exactly...

It’s like taking an alcoholic and, instead of letting them drink a premium bourbon, you put them on a regimen of some cheap substitute whiskey and then foot the bill for that lifestyle for the rest of their lives. 🙏

Why not just let them drink themselves into a stupor on the taxpayer's dime until they end up face down in a gutter? 👍

You can take those kinds of mindless comments and shove them. I’m here to discuss the topic at hand, not to pick a fight with you personally.

Look, we don't have to see eye to eye on every single thing. 😉 ☕

Look, advocating for free vaccinations isn't "stupid." 👍
Why waste taxpayer money on entitled little brats?

It’s smart. It’s humane.
And it’s freaking efficient.

The Synod—if one can even call it that—is proceeding, I suppose. Noah Myers8 says:
The concept of supervised injection sites—safe injecting rooms, if you prefer—remains a rather delicate matter. I suppose one could argue they are a necessary evil to mitigate harm, though the debate stays quite polarized.

I wonder if we should see similar centers established here in America—though I suppose that depends entirely on the local appetite for them.

Yes, my response is positive—though I might add that they ought to be distributing more food and heptanone at those centers as well, I suppose.

Look, even if SSI existed, I doubt people would actually show up for a few reasons... mainly the cops. Since possessing any amount of drugs is a criminal offense here in the States, it’s not exactly a great idea to go get searched in a public spot where the police are already looking. I honestly don't see how that would even work.

The second thing we need to fix is ensuring everyone has constant access to clean insulin supplies. We can't have people reusing gear like it's nothing. If I could show you the mental images I have from stuff I've personally witnessed regarding insulin supplies, most of you would probably lose your lunch.

Thirdly, there really needs to be some kind of small sharps containers or something the size of a trash bin specifically for disposing of used insulin supplies, instead of them ending up in manholes and drains most of the time.

And this whole habit of treating addicts like they're some kind of evil villains? It's incredibly shallow. Usually, the loudest voices saying that are the ones who know the least about addiction. I personally know about 40 long-term heroin users, and they aren't any different from anyone else in society. Yeah, you'll find some bums, liars, petty thieves, and jerks, but you also find genuinely good people—people who work and aren't hurting anyone just because they use.

Edward Green said:Look, just make sure you aren't out there mindlessly preaching for some free ride like a gold-plated handout. 👍

Look, I already told you what they ought to be doing about it. Yeah. I paid it. Right then and there. Out of my own pocket if that’s what it took. ☕

John Adams4 said:It’s just more food and heptanone.

Can I bring along clothes, makeup, newspapers, or books too? I could even grab the utility bills—electricity, water, gas—so we can just settle all those payments at once. 👍

Do you people even realize what kind of country we live in, or what?

Don't go acting like we're living in Sweden. ☕

This is actually a great topic—one where we can have a real, meaningful discussion without everyone getting in each other's faces. Please, just keep it respectful... feel free to share your takes however you want, but let's not go ad hominem by attacking one another personally.

I really don't want to have to start deleting comments... Thanks!

Edward Green If you're the kind of addict who needs a dedicated room just to manage your habit—especially when you've already got the PC, the high-speed internet, and the phone line to pull it off—then clearly you can afford your own self-destruction. Why on earth would I chip in? What am I getting out of this? What exactly are you offering me? You gonna sell me your soul🙂? Or 🙂 honestly, all that junkie trash is 🙂 🙂
