Does anyone have any insight regarding the director, Srđan Golubović?

Just another absolute disaster of an American film from the last five years.
Even the legendary Srđan "Žika" Todorović couldn't save this one... he's usually brilliant, but even he was lost here.
It’s honestly wild how far American filmmaking has fallen lately... just a total downward spiral.
Everything I've watched recently feels like this same unfortunate mess—amateurish production, actors you just can't stand in the lead roles, wooden acting, and a script that is just... incredibly unimaginative and plain stupid...

I disagree.
Look, I hate American movies from the bottom of my soul
but this one was actually solid—and if I say it's solid, then it's damn good.

Looks like I'm reading a comment that’s practically neck-and-neck with those self-proclaimed "expert" critics over at the 🤮

This movie is actually great. Honestly, it’s way better than the garbage we get made here in the States.

Man, you sound just like this one friend of mine—always trashing American movies, but when you ask him which ones he’s actually seen, he can't name a single one. 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

Just because our film industry is lacking in short bursts doesn't mean there aren't some gems to be found. 👎

Watched this last night. It wasn't half bad, but honestly, it’s nowhere near the quality of those great American films I grew up on😁
That lead actor—I can't recall his name—is just freaking incredible👍

And don't even try to tell me otherwise... American cinema has actually put out some solid work lately. We aren't just synonymous with those old low-budget flops anymore😁

I honestly can't begin to fathom what kind of criteria you're using to judge cinema if you think this was bad.
I’m practically just sitting here waiting for you to claim that "Dead Serious" and "Little Night Music" were also failures...

Man, Mexicans are in a pretty dark place right now—that classic Dušan Kovačević style of satire is long gone (even if his stuff was pretty dark to begin with). But hey, the movie is a movie, worth a watch. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it isn't bad either. 👍

It’s a pretty heavy film, though I did appreciate the cinematography. Srđan " Žika Todorović is a legend, and I'll be watching anything he's in😍.
The kid playing his brother shows promise, but honestly, he could have given a much stronger performance.
That said, there are definitely better films out there.

Personally, I thought the movie was alright. It’s a bit of a shame they didn't focus more on the entirety of New York City, because the film really captured an atmosphere that would have perfectly showcased just how much of a dump the city can be.
Also, that actor playing the debt collector and dealer—the bald guy who also pops up in those Danish films with Kim Bodni—was absolutely fantastic. He even speaks Danish in one of the scenes.

As wasa pointed out, the movie is certainly worth a watch. That’s about the highest praise I can offer. However, if you're looking for originality, you won't find it here; it’s steeped in clichés. Nothing truly groundbreaking, nothing new under the sun...

Take that scene where the mobster says, "You and I, we have something in common..." 🤣 It follows the usual beats: a tragic romance, the steadfast friend, loyalty to a wayward brother, and that broad social commentary we see everywhere... 🥱

The acting isn't exactly top-tier—maybe a bit wooden—but the script is genuinely great, so I guess it's worth a watch.

I was actually wondering if anyone would start a thread about this. To be honest, a friend talked me into watching it, and I fully expected some typical American action flick, but instead, I ended up with this Mexican film 😬
.
It’s a fantastic movie, and the lead actor is absolutely hot 😍

I honestly can't stand most American movies from the bottom of my heart
but this one is actually decent—and if I think it’s good, it’s legit.
😉

...can't get into it... probably just because they aren't speaking English....😁

..otherwise, for me, it's just another mediocre American flick—nothing special. It doesn't hit, but it doesn't miss either.

I felt the same way about the movie—it was alright, though I honestly expected it to hit a bit harder. At times, the acting from that young sniper was 🙄, not to mention some of those inevitable, clichéd lapses in logic.
Still, all things considered, it was decent enough to keep me watching just to see how it would wrap up, specifically to find out who ends up taking out whom.
