Biopsy results came back clear?

Can someone help me make sense of this sentence from a biopsy report for an ovarian cyst that was removed?

"The described cyst consists of a fibrous wall containing scattered infiltrates of siderophages, while the inner surface is lined by a layer of fibrin without any evidence of epithelium."

I already know the cyst was benign and everything turned out fine, but I’m one of those people who needs to understand every single detail, and I just can't wrap my head around what "siderophage" actually means. Thanks!

A siderophage is essentially a macrophage—a type of monocyte-derived cell that acts as the body's internal "cleanup crew"—that has effectively "swallowed"
hemosiderin granules. This pigment is what's left behind when hemoglobin breaks down following the destruction of red blood cells.
In plain English: finding siderophages is a clear indicator that there was bleeding within the cyst roughly two to three weeks prior to the procedure.

To me, it sounds just as ridiculous, but apparently, that's supposed to be the formal literary version now. 😱

I don't think we're talking about proofreading here. It's more like they're just straight-up twisting the definition of the word.
