It isn't about the devil; it's about the light. After all, "Lucifer" literally translates to "the light-bringer" in its original language.😬 😁

I view these things a bit differently.

On one hand, you have Thompson, who openly glorified massacres and historical atrocities.
Under American law, he should be held criminally liable for that—not just a misdemeanor, but actual criminal charges.

Thompson sang what people actually think. I can't say if he personally believes it, but as a public figure, he's responsible for inciting those views.
And some people really did murder others simply because of their background,
whether it was fifty years ago or back in the nineties.

That is where the danger becomes incredibly real.

In contrast, Marilyn Manson mocks religion and the church, calling them hypocrites.
He goes too far sometimes just to shock people, and I agree that someone, if they aren't paying attention, might feel their religious feelings were insulted.

However, there is a vital distinction: Manson's mockery and provocation cannot lead to physical harm.
At most, someone might walk away thinking religious people are being screwed over.
But nobody actually gets hurt by that.

It’s more of a philosophical question.

On one side we have bloodshed, and on the other, philosophy. I don't believe you can compare the two.

Though, obviously, you can stretch a comparison if you really want to.

Is it possible that even the KKK could be considered acceptable as long as they stay within the bounds of free speech? Of course, physically attacking or killing people is never okay, but why shouldn't an individual be allowed to hold hateful views toward Black people if that is simply how they feel?
Is it wrong just because it feels wrong?
It seems pointless; people can hate all they want, provided they don't resort to violence.

I personally wouldn't ban anything.

While Marilyn Manson doesn't go around burning down churches, if someone finds a cross offensive, why shouldn't they be allowed to insult it or express themselves similarly? I find myself constantly criticizing those religious zealots whenever the opportunity arises, yet I never try to stop them from believing whatever they choose, so why should Catholics be allowed to target him through baseless campaigns when they are just as guilty of intolerance?

Isn't it true that no religion in the world truly offers liberation, given how they all seem to function by imposing endless rules and restrictions? Doesn't every faith eventually resort to those same old patterns—telling you what you can or cannot do, or using the threat of missing out on heaven as a way to keep people living in constant fear and anxiety?

Jose Chase2 said:It isn't quite that I believe he has the power to dismantle someone's faith, per se; rather, I am simply attempting to draw a line in the sand regarding Satanism. I harbor a profound, soul-deep contempt for anyone who aligns themselves with Satanic ideologies, and frankly, I believe they should be barred from accessing mainstream media altogether. In my view, freedom of speech reaches its limit when we start entertaining Satanism. Period. It would be a massive mistake if he continued his crusade against the Church while simultaneously flirting with such dark themes.

True, though the real irony lies in the fact that Satanism itself is essentially a construct fabricated by the Church—as if to say, "if you don't believe in God, then Satan will come for you." This is precisely how little children and certain "types" of people are kept in a state of perpetual fear.🙂

Furthermore, if one were to actually believe in Satan, wouldn't that necessitate a belief in the Bible, given that the Bible is the very thing that invented the concept of Satan in the first place? Therefore, all these Satanists are essentially just pretenders, playing parts and fighting against the very essence of what they claim to represent... it's all quite circular, really.

Just some food for thought, 😁

Well, if the goal is just to shock people—which happens—he does cross the line sometimes. I can see why someone might feel their religious feelings are being insulted if they aren't really thinking things through.

Look, I don't have an issue with poking fun at the Church, but I do have a problem with Satanism in any form. Honestly, how could you not be offended when someone takes a cross—the ultimate symbol of faith for an American Catholic—and uses it for... whatever the hell they're doing?

And one more thing: how is it that nobody seems to mind when he mocks Catholicism, yet if he started doing the same to Jews, he’d be labeled the most intolerant person on the planet?

So, if I'm going to believe in Satan, doesn't that mean I have to believe in the Bible? Since the Bible is what made up Satan in the first place... which means all these Satanists are just jerks playing dress-up and fighting against something they actually believe in. .....................

Just some food for thought 😁

Look, I believe in God, but I don't believe in Satan. I believe He exists.

Get what I'm saying? I don't have any problem with free speech—doesn't matter if it's my side or not—as long as we aren't talking about Satanism. I honestly think people have no clue what they're actually dealing with here and are just kidding themselves.

Don't you think this walking on eggshells regarding certain groups is just a byproduct of Holocaust guilt?

Treat Satanism as just another religion and you shouldn't have any issues left.
It's obvious Manson does all this just to build his shock-rock persona.
So, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

Besides, the Church is an easy target, much like Manson himself.
One has to learn to live with it.

Mark Hughes36 said:Do you think that walking on eggshells around certain social boundaries is somehow linked to a sense of guilt over the Holocaust?

🙄 Seriously, what does some wealthy Jew from Hollywood actually have to do with the Holocaust? Trust me, most Americans—given our own history of suffering—can probably empathize with Jewish victims more than some rich Hollywood guy who only has a connection to them because he happens to be Jewish. It’s like saying some descendant of an American living in, say, Chile, understands the struggles of war better than someone who actually stayed behind and fought to defend their home.👍 )

And yeah, regarding Thompson—look, it’s the same logic. Just like Thompson could inspire some idiot to start attacking Mexicans, Manson could inspire someone to go after Catholics. There isn't really a difference—it doesn't matter that he isn't explicitly saying, "Let's kill Catholics." People who obsess over Satanism could easily take his "we'll tear down Catholicism" rhetoric as a direct call to violence.

I don't get how you can't see that it's the exact same thing!

Look, as a Catholic, I see Satanism the same way I’d view ultra-nationalist extremism—it just doesn't sit right with me.

Give me a break—what other religion actually worships evil?

I'm not sure which Manson he could possibly be inspired by; everyone realizes—aside from the church, of course—that it's just a soul program. This Thompson thing isn't just some soul program.

See, I wasn't even suggesting that Manson could actually be useful...

A friend of mine was there.
She told me:
"Wow, it was insane! Marilyn Manson practically spat on me!!! He actually spit on the guy standing right next to me, and he was so traumatized he said he wouldn't forgive him for the rest of his life. He wouldn't even let me touch him just so I wouldn't wipe it off!"

Yeah... 🤣 😬

Well... 🤣 😬

Spitting at the crowd?! Honestly, if his fans were actually sane, they’d show him how bands used to be welcomed back in '77.😬

Man, honestly? It's simple. If someone is even slightly unstable, they'll start spouting all kinds of nonsense.👎

Man, you people are honestly the funniest... you get so hyped up over Manson that I bet you'd probably let him shit in your mouth if he asked... just saying...

Look, I love MM; he’s easily one of my all-time favorite bands. But if he spits on me? Rest assured, I'm spitting right back. He isn't God, so I'm not about to be that submissive and actually enjoy his spit... good grief, people...

And from what I recall, he wasn't really spitting directly at the crowd that much; he'd mostly just take a swig of water and splash it around the stage and stuff...

My only regret is that the concert didn't stick in my memory more clearly. I can barely remember some of the songs because I spent the whole time staring at Manson and the band instead of actually listening to the music. For instance, during Tourniquet, I was way more fascinated by finally seeing Manson on those stools after looking at countless photos of it for years...

Maybe he'll swing back around the States in a year or two... provided he can actually put out another decent album and still has the energy to tour...🙏

If a person is prone to instability, they'll eventually mess up, whether Manson is involved or not...
