It just hit me—another one popped into my head:
Scooter - Hyper Hyper 🙏 🙏 🤣

I mean, I did say you can’t exactly fake your way through a Scooter track...
Good grief... just thinking about it now... 😂

Hypeeee, haaaaaypeeeee... dumdumdumdum... hypeee haaaaypeee.... 🙂

And then there was that other one—I wanna be a hippy... or something like that... 🤔

Marusha definitely has her moments of pure brilliance
'saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer ooooooooover d reeeejnbooov!'

Then you’ve got those catchy Dutch tracks from back in the day: 2unlimited, La Bouche, and those guys who had that hit about wanting to go to Ibiza—Wengaboys, I think they were called.

I don't really follow this genre and I have no clue which artists you guys are rambling about, but the group listed below is absolute perfection. 🙂

Good grief, Ivan America isn't some techno rave enthusiast!

There are plenty of actually fun tracks in there...
That genre is... alright, I guess. It's fine.
But the absolute worst garbage out there has to be latin house.

don't even start, those hornier tracks were the peak of our high school proms😈 😈

honestly, talking about this feels ungrateful. like, when Scooter first hit the scene, they were everything. then someone brings up Hyper Hyper—that was huge for us too. obviously, we burned through it fast and he basically tanked his career with that "she's just a girl" vibe...

and mo-do—man, everyone was singing along to that one cop song! but remember his other single? Super Gut? absolute trash...

but Maruša—now that's an electronic icon.

I can only say that I am genuinely relieved that the dance, rave, and techno nonsense that emerged in the 90s—reaching its absolute peak back then—has practically withered away and vanished by today. It isn't that modern commercialism is any better; we’ve simply traded one headache for another with this exhausting hip-hop and uninspired, over-commercialized R&B that barely qualifies as the genre at all. But at least I no longer have to endure Marusha, DJ Bob, Scooter, and those other supposed "geniuses" who wasted every waking moment of my life during the 90s. And don't even get me started on those "RAVE MASSACRE" compilation albums; honestly, they could probably be used to terrify an alien invasion.

Of course you’d say that—it’s because that track is practically ancient, isn't it? Seventy years old, if my memory serves me right. And please, don't even attempt to tell me you haven't heard that classic! As for Marusha, she didn't invent it; she just gave that little tune a polished makeover. That was originally sung by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz. 🤣

Honestly, I’d much rather deal with those old-school, high-energy "Hyper Hyper" style raves again instead of this current garbage filled with nothing but finger-pointing and nonsense.

tribal_force said:Someone mentioned Marusha above... and while it’s not that I have any particular affection for her, she certainly defined the era she worked in, though she really doesn't belong in this specific discussion. I actually caught one of her sets at a semi-private party a couple of years back, and for the first time in ages, I felt that genuine sense of PLUR. It was reminiscent of when Marica used to spin records in those gritty underground clubs in Berlin during the early 90s. Now, she's well into her forties. Regardless, she remains a singular phenomenon.

Anyway, on a completely different note... someone brought up German and Czech tourists. Honestly, most of you seem content just driving a few miles outside any major American city and calling it an adventure. And I don't mean that disparagingly regarding small towns—I'm talking about that provincial mindset, that narrowness of spirit.

Exactly, just leave Marusha alone... back in those days, she was the absolute gold standard... just like Mark Oh... back then... and people still talk about that happy HC era, don't they?😉 👍

Kex Doomlich said:Techno isn't really my scene, but there's this one specific thing that sticks in my mind. It’s mostly just heavy beats, until some guy starts talking:

"Hello, my name is Oliver, and I'm gonna tell you a story. Its about a girl..."

I can't recall the rest, but I know it was some kind of absolute trip.

Does anyone happen to know the name of that track?

Man, The Horrorist is still churning out that dark, twisted music....and you still hear him playing at the massive hardcore festivals across Europe..like the biggest ones...like Helbound.....

This isn't exactly techno, and it’s definitely not rave either, but

be my lover,
be my lover.....

What an absolute brainwashing attempt with this track.

And then there's our old favorite

It wasn't me, it wasn't you, it wasn't him,
it wasn't us!
Then who on earth was playing the DJ set at the club?
playing that set

In my humble opinion, the absolute worst rave techno track ever recorded has to be Marilyn Manson - MASTURBATING ON THE UNHOLY INVERTED TRACKS OF THE GRIM & FROSTBITTEN NECROBOBSLEDDERS.
It’s not even a floor-filler—honestly, there's zero energy in it—it just stays completely flat the whole way through...
