Ashley Nguyen46 said:I was out this past Friday and the music at the venue was just deafening; I honestly had to scream just to be heard over the bass. Well, today feels even worse than yesterday, and I’ve been stuck whispering all day because my voice is completely gone! Does anyone know of a quick fix to get my voice back? Like, should I be drinking specific teas or maybe loading up on honey?
thanks

Hehe, it sounds like you didn't just lose your voice, you probably lost some hearing too from that volume. Honestly, it seems like you also lost your sense of judgment for realizing those kinds of clubs aren't worth it; besides the shallow entertainment, they are basically a fast track to permanent health issues. As for therapy? I guess your best bet is to just keep up the masochism until you hit total self-destruction. 😁

Honestly, you also seem to have lost any sense of judgment regarding these kinds of spots. They aren't "fun." They're just empty, shallow distractions and a one-way ticket to ruining your health. Therapy? I'd suggest just leaning into the masochism until everything finally falls apart. 😁

Now this is just plain rude.

And I have to say, there is a profound truth being spoken out loud here. I truly wish them nothing but the best. 😉

Bronchimed (generic wellness brand) -->

Since when did you become an expert on what works for someone else's specific medical issues based on what a doctor prescribed you? Seriously, stop trying to play doctor.

Look, that first part is kind of true, I guess, but the rest of it? Just plain rude.

Peter Phillips32 said:How can you possibly recommend something just because your doctor handed it to you for your specific condition? You’re practically playing doctor here.

Bronchi Med is an entirely natural product with zero side effects—you could drink it by the gallon if you wanted to and you wouldn't suffer any ill consequences whatsoever.☕

Man, I totally get that. I remember one time I lost my voice after seeing this incredible band live... I thought I’d be fine in a couple of days, but nope, ended up with this unavoidable sore throat instead. I just stuck to drinking tea with honey and hoped for the best, I guess. That was pretty much it.

It wasn't actually a recommendation from my physician; rather, I did some digging on Google and noticed several people on this forum suggesting it for things like hoarseness, throat irritation, coughing, or general soreness...

Given that it was the weekend and my doctor's office was closed, and since I had completely lost my voice, I picked some up at a local CVS and it actually provided some relief... after that, I did follow up with my doctor for antibiotics... though I was consistently taking about three teaspoons a day... it's common knowledge that honey works wonders for a sore throat...

Yeah, and water is healthy too, so I guess you shouldn't drink much of that either. Maybe use a little brainpower before you post next time.

Since it was the weekend and my doctor wasn't in, and I literally couldn't speak, I grabbed some at the drugstore and it worked... after that, I went to see the doctor to get antibiotics....but I was taking about 3 teaspoons a day the whole time... everyone knows honey is good for your throat...

Glad you're feeling better.

And what's the alternative? Just sit at home playing nursemaid to my own health and only ever leaving the house for a quiet stroll through Central Park? Give me a break.

P.S.

So, I’m turning 15 this August, and I’ve been dealing with this one thing lately (I actually found this article online about it):

False mutation refers to those specific voice changes you see in boys going through puberty. Instead of the voice naturally deepening and getting that mature resonance, it stays stuck in a high pitch, almost sounding like a kid's voice or even something a bit cartoonish. This isn't caused by any weird hormonal imbalances or anything like that; it’s more about how things develop psychologically during that stage. If these voice patterns aren't addressed early on, they can become a permanent habit, which leads to even bigger headaches down the road. People often start withdrawing or feeling super self-conscious, avoiding situations where they have to speak up in public. The best way to tackle these false mutation issues is through vocal therapy. It works wonders, especially if you catch it right when things are first starting to shift.

Does anyone here know much about this, and what does vocal therapy actually involve? Like, what kind of stuff do you do in those sessions?

Yesterday my voice was already starting to crack—just typical hoarseness, you know?—but today I woke up and couldn't even squeeze out a single syllable😲! It’s brutal. There’s zero pain or anything, but I am physically incapable of speaking. Spent the whole day just chilling, sipping tea with honey, and trying not to strain my vocal cords at all. I even tried some homeopathic drops earlier, but honestly, I'm not seeing any real difference..
I have this massive work meeting tomorrow night and I absolutely need to be able to talk, so what's the move??? How do I get my voice back ASAP???

Nothing really hurts, but I seriously can't talk. I spent the whole day just resting, sipping tea with honey, and trying not to strain my vocal cords at all. I tried some throat spray from CVS a bit ago, but I guess I don't really see much of an effect yet..

I mean, I guess taking calcium definitely helps. Just grab some effervescent calcium tablets at a Walgreens or CVS—dissolve two and drink them. You could probably do that three times a day.
It might not turn you into a superstar singer overnight, but it should hopefully make things feel a lot better.

Do singers eat honey when they lose their voice, or is that just a myth?

Look, you really need to just head down to the doctor, lay out the whole situation, and beg them for an injection or maybe some kind of inhaler treatment... anything to just get a temporary handle on this so you can stop straining your vocal cords and give them a fighting chance to recover...

I don't even know where to start with this one. It’s just ridiculous. Honestly, people need to wake up and look at the facts instead of just following whatever nonsense is being fed to them. It's absolute madness. kaže:
🙂 Hey there! What's up?

I’ve got a problem here. It might seem a little weird for someone my age, but I’m 21 now. I’m assuming I’m officially done with puberty. I mean, it hit me like a freight train when I was about 12, so yeah, I’m pretty damn sure that assumption is correct.

My voice is constantly shifting on me. One minute it’s fine, and the next, the color, tone, and pitch are all wrong. It’s erratic. My voice starts shaking, and sometimes—I kid you not—it feels like I’m not even the one talking. It sounds like someone else is using my mouth to speak. It's freaking bizarre.

Is it because I was totally checked out? Like, my brain just went on autopilot for a second? Maybe I’m just lacking any real drive, or maybe I just wasn't locked in when it mattered. Honestly, it could be some underlying mental health issue, but in that exact moment—when my voice started shifting—I didn't feel like I was losing my mind or anything. I was just there.

👋

I'm dealing with the exact same headache. Have you actually managed to dig up anything useful on this yet?

Well, this post is from over six and a half years ago. I suspect—though I can't say for certain—that he's likely figured quite a bit out in the interim.

Hey everyone. So, I've got this little situation going on—nothing too crazy, just a tiny bit of a struggle. Every single morning when I wake up, my voice sounds... well, weird. It’s super raspy, deep, and honestly just kind of awkward—it makes it really hard to even string a sentence together without sounding like I'm talking through a layer of gravel. I'm 16, so by now, I feel like I should probably have a more "normal," steady voice by the afternoon, you know? Just something regular. Does anyone have any tips on specific foods or maybe some little tricks to help "loosen up" my vocal cords first thing when I get out of bed? Any advice would be awesome! Thanks a bunch. 🙂
