I know this might sound ridiculous..🙄 but I’m dealing with this for the second time now..

I spent my whole morning trying to hit my goal of drinking 8 glasses of water.. you know, staying hydrated and all that blah blah blah..

And now? I feel absolutely terrible... and it's not just a stomach ache. I'm sweating, my head is throbbing, I'm shaking all over, and I have zero energy left in the tank..😢

Does anyone actually make sense of this?! What kind of twisted logic connects chugging a ton of water with a total physical disaster right after?

Before that—just some yogurt and an apple. Then I had two spoonfuls of protein powder... and honestly? It felt a tiny bit better. 😢

Thanks. 😘

Why don't you just space those glasses out throughout the day?

It’s totally possible to actually mess yourself up by overdoing it with the water intake. I remember reading about this tragic case where a young guy at a rave took an ecstasy pill and his body just went into overdrive with thirst. He ended up chugging something like 15 liters of water way too fast, which basically trashed his metabolic balance and killed him. Something similar—not exactly the same thing, but close enough—probably happened to you. That sweating, the nausea, feeling completely wiped out... you likely just threw your metabolism totally out of whack. And honestly, if you downed all that water in one go, you might have even chilled yourself out a bit too much.
There's really nothing worth overdoing, not even staying hydrated.

So, this guy basically chugged like 15 liters of water in one sitting. Just absolutely downed it.

He actually drank 15 liters...
Seriously, go grab a five-gallon Home Depot bucket and look at it. Just visualize that volume.
Where on earth would that even fit?

🙂 Look, a daily quota is meant to be spread out over the whole day—it's a DAILY quota, not just a morning sprint! Don't go playing fast and loose with the math. (And honestly, just bring a newspaper into the bathroom with you instead 🙂 )

Glad to know I'm not the only one going through this (feeling much better now though)...

I tried that tip about chugging plenty of water before hitting the gym to stop the foot cramps... and honestly? It actually worked. I spent the whole morning sipping on lukewarm water just to be safe, because man... 🙂 🙂 🙂 I was struggling all day, feeling like everything was just stuck. And don't even get me started on how I couldn't get things moving until like 5 AM after "reading the news"... 🙂 🙂 🙂 You know those mornings where you just can't face getting out of bed...

Bottom line: sip water steadily and definitely take those old-school home remedies with a grain of salt.

hm.... okay, so like 4 gallons 😁

but I don't even touch less than a gallon of water a day myself (and that’s only when I’m not, you know, super hungry)... sometimes I hit closer to 1.5 gallons...

could that actually cause some issues?

If you’re drinking a ton of water, especially before hitting the gym or going for a run, you really ought to toss in some salt. It doesn't even have to be plain water—you could go with something like a Gatorade or even just grab some fruit.

I saw this kid at a concert on ecstasy who was so dehydrated he basically just... fell apart. He looked like he was literally dissolving. 😢

I managed to knock back eight glasses of water this morning—trying to hit that daily goal, blah blah blah.

It’s like they told you—it’s a daily dose, not a morning one. Just a little thing to keep in mind.

I drink quite a bit of water myself—never really timed my intervals or anything—but I try to keep it under a quart an hour.

So, you just spread those eight glasses out across the entire day—and all five of them, too.
Besides that—how on earth did you manage to force down that much water in such a short window? Seriously, I’ve seen people struggle with a single bottle at the gym—I don't know how you did it.

I’d probably lose my swallowing reflex after three cases—water would just get stuck in my throat. Tried it once, and let's just say it wasn't pretty. 😁

Man, grab a 15-liter bucket and just visualize how much that actually is...
Where would even go?

I have no clue where all that liquid ends up, but honestly, he’s probably just dehydrated from drinking nothing but water, so it's not some wild sci-fi scenario.
Plus, if you've ever had to prep for a colonoscopy, you know the drill—you basically have to chug about 10 liters of water mixed with those nasty prep powders just to get everything cleaned out before they look inside.

Thanks everyone 😘

I knew I wouldn't be able to focus on this once I clocked out of work, so here goes—for about four or five hours straight, I was basically playing a game of "plug my nose and gulp" every single time I had a glass of water.

Ugh... just thinking about it makes me sick 🙂

Honestly, all this talk about mandatory daily water intake is just total nonsense.

I know plenty of people who barely touch water at all—they don't feel the need, and they function perfectly fine.

Then you have someone like me, who drinks an insane amount of water. Seriously, if I’m thirsty enough, I can down a whole liter in one go, and I’ll do that multiple times throughout the day.

The "eight glasses a day" rule? Please. I’ve knocked back way more than that in just an hour or two before, and I felt totally fine... which doesn't mean everyone else will feel the same way. Just don't force it. Drink what your body actually asks for, whether that turns out to be a few sips or three liters a day. 🙂

I guess I'm one of those...

but I'm really trying to stay hydrated, at least during my cutting season.😁

I once seriously overdid it on water intake. I know the sensation all too well. I genuinely thought I was a goner. I ended up rushing to the bathroom to heave, and honestly, I felt fine moments later.

Are they drinking something else instead? What's their diet like? Or even just, how old are we talking here?

p.s. I don't really feel the "thirst" either, but I'd much rather deal with hitting the restroom a few times a day than deal with anything else. 😳

I honestly have no clue 🤔 They're young, basically my age—around 21 to 23

Like, they don't even drink water with their coffee, and honestly, I don't think they even care for fruit or veggies... I can only think of a few people like that 🙂

I seriously don't get where they find any hydration 😁 Maybe they just soak it all up through their skin in the shower? 😁 🙂

Does this make any sense to anyone?! How does drinking a ton of water lead to this kind of disaster??

It happened to me once too... such a horrible feeling... I felt sick and ended up throwing up...

Just don't drink such massive amounts all at once....

Preach.
After running three laps on the treadmill, I'm not even thirsty. Or if I am, it's barely noticeable.
And during the summer, hanging out at the beach... I don't feel the need for water at all.
I've never been one for forcing myself to hydrate just because someone said so. It's hard for me to drink water "just because."
I know it might not be the healthiest way to live, but whatever. I tried forcing it once, and it just didn't work for me.
