I managed to snag the first 10 minutes a few days ago while it was still available for download—you might even be able to track down a .wmv version online if you look hard enough (it’s currently floating around on Kazaa). From what I caught, it actually looks pretty solid; there is a decent amount of gore, and the zombies aren't half bad either. Now, the real question is: when is this finally hitting theaters here in the States?! 😕

(For those wondering how I saw the first 10 minutes, it was aired on TV here in the US about two weeks ago as part of a promotional stunt, showing the opening sequence in its uncensored form).

Honestly, guys, I don't know about you, but I caught a sneak peek at the AMC last week and I was absolutely terrified—I mean, seriously, I almost died!

Maybe the fact that the theater was basically empty didn't help the vibe, but still... total SHOCK!

Personally, I found the previous one a bit too sluggish and tedious, whereas this new version actually picks up the pace; there’s this constant sense of tension... plus, the zombies are sprinting around like they're on caffeine.😁

I actually jumped out of my seat a couple of times while watching it. You have to admit the movie feels grounded in a certain reality—if a zombie 😁 is lunging at you, you aren't going to stand there philosophizing; you're either running for your life or swinging whatever is nearby, like, say, a stick to the eye.🙂 😁

I went into this one with pretty high hopes last night, but honestly, the satisfaction lasted about five minutes after those opening credits rolled—which were actually pretty slick, by the way. After that, it was just a slow slide into boredom; there were a few decent moments here and there, but the movie definitely doesn't live up to the hype Maddox built up in the trailer. I don't feel like I wasted an hour and a half of my life, per se, but when you’re dealing with this kind of vibe—that claustrophobic tension where everything outside is lethal—I'd recommend Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 about ten times over, and that flick doesn't even need a single zombie to pull it off. But hey, whatever.

There's already a remake of Assault scheduled for next year.

Given how much of a masterpiece the original was, I honestly wasn't expecting anything 😁so this movie actually managed to surprise me: IT WASN'T TRASH.
But let’s not get carried away—it isn't exactly a masterpiece either. There are a few decent scenes that aren't tied to the zombies (like when an ambulance runs someone over at the start, or when a guy accidentally chugs a Coke while fleeing—don't worry, no spoilers here!). My main issue? The zombies were running a bit too fast; they felt way too energetic overall.
Is it watchable? Sure. But after about an hour, you start getting that "okay, let's go, when is this thing going to end?" feeling.

I watched the original ages ago and honestly, it had slipped my mind. Now that I’ve finally caught it in theaters again, a few things came flooding back, though I definitely forgot most of it... The movie is great. It’s got a couple of corny moments here and there, but that’s about it. Sure, the zombies are a bit too high-energy, but they’re way more fun to watch that way—kind of more intense, I guess...

It’s a far cry from the original, but I guess it’s passable enough...

The first half hour actually landed pretty well for me, but as the runtime drags on, the movie just kind of loses its way... nothing catastrophic, though...

Anyway, it beats 28 Days Later in my book.

I was reading online that there's a Day of the Dead remake currently in post-production, being made totally separate from this Dawn of the Dead version...

Supposedly, they're going back to those slow-moving zombies we used to see.👍

As if Romer didn't need more funding for a fourth installment already.🙏

Honestly, this new Dawn of the Dead was such a frustrating slog to sit through. I mean, seriously—every single character acts like they’ve had a lobotomy. It was maddening; I found myself getting worked up every few minutes because someone would inevitably do something incredibly stupid. It just wasn't believable at all—and look, I get it, it's horror, but you still need some level of suspension of disbelief to work, right? The opening is actually top-tier, but the rest of it... well, it’s not total garbage, but it’s definitely not hitting the mark either.

Regarding the fourth installment, there used to be all this chatter online about projects like Dead Reckoning or Twilight of the Dead, but those ideas just kind of fizzled out once Romero moved on to other things.

Still, an $80 million payday for a remake might actually open some doors...

Based on what I'm seeing here, filming is set to kick off this November 🙂
