I’ve always had a soft spot for Claude Chabrol’s films. I’ve mostly sourced them online; some were hard to track down without English subtitles, but honestly, that doesn't really bother me.
They aren't the kind of movies you just throw on in the background. I prefer watching them by myself, in total silence, because the pacing is deliberate and they really demand your full attention. They definitely aren't meant for the casual mainstream crowd—nobody in my circle actually enjoys them. They usually complain that they're boring or that "nothing much happens"...
But personally, they hit the spot perfectly. I’ve watched every single one at least twice already (and I'll probably go back for more soon enough).😁
"The Biches" is easily one of my favorites, followed by "The Butcher" and "The Unfaithful Wife." Really, his whole filmography is solid for me.👍

Exactly. People tell me I'm nuts for watching him—say there's no plot or that it’s just boring. Please. Claude Chabrol is a freaking genius.

Honestly, I can't wrap my head around how people sit through those mindless movies.
Everyone has their own taste, I suppose, but I just don't have any interest in things like action flicks, slapstick comedies, or those overhyped Hollywood blockbusters.
Give me Claude Chabrol or Rohmer any day, or the Taviana brothers, or even those beautiful Romanian films—the kind of stuff most people tend to overlook.
Real lovers of art cinema and the classics found in a film archive will always be a minority...

It’s not even just about movies; literature and music are drowning in garbage these days too. I have this buddy who swears he's a huge film buff, yet he hasn't the slightest clue who Claude Chabrol or Bernardo Bertolucci are.
