In my case, the stretch marks were a direct consequence of some pretty aggressive weight loss. I managed to drop about 65 pounds in just two months. It was... well, let's just say it was quite the ordeal.

Stretch marks are just the result of rapid weight gain or growth spurts when the skin can't keep up with the expansion. Once you start losing weight, they don't magically disappear; they just become much more obvious as the skin tightens.

I haven't found a cure for them either. I’ve tried every cream on the market, and none of them actually worked.

Stretch marks happen when your skin just can't keep up with its own elasticity—usually during rapid weight gain or if you lose weight too fast.
There are some topical creams that might slow them down, but if you want them gone, plastic surgery is the only real option, though you’re still looking at some scarring.
Try eating more protein to support your skin. If things have stretched significantly, surgeons typically perform an elliptical excision to tighten everything back up—it’s essentially a surgical "patch job," plain and simple.

My cousin gave birth ten months ago. She didn't have a single stretch mark during the pregnancy, yet now her entire abdomen is covered in them. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it possible for them to appear simply because the stomach is shrinking, more or less rapidly?

During my two pregnancies, I only ended up with a few small marks near my bikini line. I've read that it really comes down to genetics—as well as how quickly the skin stretches or contracts.
Since I only gained about 20 pounds during each pregnancy—and did so very gradually—my midsection returned to normal without much of a shock to the system.
There are plenty of ways to treat or fade them these days, and you can find a lot of info online:

So, when I had my baby, I only put on about twenty pounds total, and honestly, I didn't end up with a single stretch mark—or at least none that anyone could actually see... but then, when I finally gave birth, my stomach was just a complete mess, covered in these deep stretch marks and all this extra skin hanging there. I guess it really just comes down to how much elasticity your skin actually has, or at least that’s what the nurses at the hospital told me when I was recovering...

My thirty-three-year-old aunt handled it using some product from Neutrogena—I can't recall the exact name... some kind of oil... you can find it at CVS.🙂

The skin is shot. There's no fixing it. I’ve tried everything under the sun—lasers, high-end creams, you name it. Nothing works.

I’ve already got some stretch marks from those sudden growth spurts—you know, the kind more common in guys—and now I’m low-key worried. Since my skin isn't exactly super elastic, I’m terrified I'll end up covered in them when I'm pregnant. I heard there’s a specific cream you can use beforehand to try and prevent them from showing up in the first place.

So, how do you actually deal with stretch marks? Like, is it even a real thing you can fix or am I just wasting my time here... I went through this sudden weight gain phase and now I’m stuck looking at these bright red streaks everywhere... do they eventually fade out on their own, or is there some magic way to get rid of them completely? thanks

I honestly don't think we can ever get rid of these arrows. I just don't know.

Ugh, tell me about it—I’ve got the exact same issue. My stretch marks showed up ages ago right when I put on some extra weight, and honestly, they’ve faded a bit over the years. But here’s the kicker: the second I get even a tiny bit of a tan, they pop out like crazy. It's so frustrating. :-(
I’ve heard people talk about those fancy anti-stretch mark creams, but I haven’t actually bothered to try any of them yet.
If you really want to stay ahead of it, the best thing you can do is just be religious about moisturizing with some olive oil.

I found this article about preventing stretch marks during pregnancy, though honestly, the same logic applies if you're just putting on weight for other reasons.
Most of the time, you can prevent them from showing up in the first place, but once they've settled in... well, good luck. There are a handful of dermatological treatments out there that might fade them a bit, but let's be real—nothing is going to make them vanish entirely.

I honestly can't recommend a blend of St. John's Wort, olive, and lavender oils enough... oh, and don't forget wheat germ oil too! It works wonders!🙂

I was browsing through some older threads on this forum since there are so many topics being reopened lately... anyway, I could only find stuff specifically about stretch marks during pregnancy.
I'm still pretty young and quite a long way off from ever being pregnant (hopefully 😁), but I already have several stretch marks on my thighs.
Does anyone have any personal experiences or maybe some recommendations for a good cream or something else that works?

You've got this whole topic about cosmetics, but let's be real—that's purely an aesthetic issue, not some kind of medical emergency.

...maybe give that Vichy stretch mark cream a shot? It really did the trick for me 👍
