The movie feels like a high-caliber drama, and I have to say, Alison really stood out to me—she’s been a completely different actress in my eyes ever since this role.
She just has this certain presence, you know?
The whole film plays out like one massive, heavy, somber portrait, where moments of wonder are punctuated by these light, innocent tones and motifs.
Think of those deep blues paired with the White Oleander; it creates this sense of an idyllic scene.
It’s definitely a heavy watch.

I remember it being decent enough—that's about all I can say for it. But there is something interesting here: a huge number of people still remember it. Despite how many movies get churned out every single day now, nobody who saw this once could ever forget it. That says something.

The film features Michelle Pfeiffer, and it's easily one of her best performances. Right alongside her is the perpetually underrated Robin Wright, playing that "white trash" archetype perfectly.
It’s almost a chick flick, but it was made with actual soul—subtle, balanced, and without falling into cheap melodrama.

Oh, and Billy Connolly is phenomenal as the smooth-talking guy who meets such a pathetic end. 🙂

I only sat through it once myself, but for some reason, it really stuck with me, and I can still recall so many specific details about it today.

Robin is such a phenomenal actress, and she truly delivered a standout performance here. 👍
I actually found myself feeling quite bad for Billy at certain points. 😁

As for Michelle Pfeiffer, there were moments where her character made me want to just reach out and kick the screen! 😳

Honestly, I think this one lands right in that special "must-watch-again" category for me. 🙂

Excellent film, nothing but praise. The story is solid, the continuity is tight, and Pfeiffer is looking gorgeous as always. Robin Penn playing that religious trailer trash floozy is pure 🙏 🙏 🙏
