Good luck, hope you clear through plenty of units. πŸ™‚(What level are you at, anyway?)

I’m sitting at somewhere around 14,200 and then some!

😠 Jane Doe 😠

How the hell am I supposed to get this QueueSystems thing running? I went through the whole install, but it won't even touch my packages. Honestly, the whole thing is just a brick right now.
😒 😠

Jane Doe. Just how many computers did you have to infect to hit those numbers?

I'm barely hanging on at 1,529. 😒

Nicole Morgan55, honestly, I have no clueβ€”I've never actually needed to.

I mean, with nearly 15k under his belt, Walter Vaughn94 should probably know what he's doing by now...

You asked how many I've actually processed? Honestly, it’s kind of embarrassing to even mention now that you guys went bragging about those 14,200 and 1,529 numbers.
πŸ™„ 😳

Take a look at how many years I've been doing this; maybe you won't feel quite so embarrassed. I finally have a bucket that clocks in under 6 hours per package πŸ™‚ (though driving on a dedicated 400 MHz line still messes with my average 😁

So, how’s the hunt for little green men going? 😁

How many units have you guys cleared so far? 😁

How many units have you guys finished up? 😁

At this point, you aren't really counting completed units anymore; instead, you earn a specific number of points for every single unit (Walmart)

It's moving along. Besides that, there's plenty of other stuff happeningβ€”detecting gravitational waves, helping out with the construction of the Large Hadron Collider, refreshing protein databases, and all that.

It's just a shame hardly anyone here actually runs those. Everyone loves reaping the rewards of scientific breakthroughs, but heaven forbid anyone actually contributes to the science itself.

Can someone please just give me an answer?
How on earth can you actually know they're doing *exactly* that πŸ˜•
instead of something else entirely? πŸ˜•

Man,
how do you even know for sure that humans actually landed on the Moon? 😁

Alright, here comes my political manifesto regarding all this.

Why pick SETI over anything else?

First off, all that medical research and stuff is done FOR corporations. You walk away with nothing if your company makes a breakthrough. Of course, it wouldn't be such a disaster if those same companies didn't just patent everything and sell overpriced meds.
Well, they do. My company works for them, and then they rake in the cash. If the contract said they couldn't patent any discoveries, maybe I'd actually consider it.

slycrane94 said:It’s moving along. They also look for gravitational waves, help build the LHC, refresh protein databases, and all that jazz.

Too bad hardly anyone here even runs it. Everyone loves reaping the rewards of scientific breakthroughs, but heaven forbid anyone actually helps out a little.

I honestly don't know
because I wasn't there
but if you can't answer the question
then don't come at me with those smart-ass counter-questions

I mean, look, you have a point... You can't really know exactly what code is running under the hood (unless you start reverse-engineering the app, which is usually illegal anyway). It’s the same logic as wondering if Windows, Unix, or macOS is secretly running some background process that isn't actually working for you, but for Bill Gates or whoever else...
It’s not easy to prove, but honestly, it doesn't even matterβ€”it's just illogical to worry about it...

Reverse engineering isn't illegal.

It’s pretty obvious what’s going on when you have access to the source code; if you know how to read it, you see exactly what they're up to.

How is that even legal??

I mean, you can't just stroll into Microsoft and tell them you're gonna start messing with their Windows code...

Then again, you've got open source stuff or software where the dev actually gives you the green light for reverse engineering.

It’s not illegal... period. No matter how you slice it!
As for what's actually going on, I have zero clue what the deal is, but I personally spent the last two days tearing through a million different things!

THANKS, THANKS for the applause πŸ˜‰

You can't just walk into Microsoft and tell them you're planning to tear apart their Windows code...

Then there's open source software, or anything where the author explicitly allows reverse engineering...

Like I said. It’s perfectly legal. Ever wonder how Samba or half the other tools we use were even built?

So, slycrane94, since you're basically the king of overclocking, what should I run to cook my CPU? I need something light enough for an Athlon XP 1.2 GHz that actually does something usefulβ€”like drug research or molecular modeling. Also, I don't want it eating up all my bandwidth with massive data transfers...
Any tips?
