Matthew Grant9 said:Yep, I’m officially the one out of the two of us who took this blatant joke way too seriously! 😉
If you were actually being a jokester, you would have just answered the third question.
Honestly, there’s just no fun in dealing with someone as much of a prankster as you are!

I mean, what is your actual issue here, besides the fact that you somehow managed to be the only person to fall for such a blatant setup? You're treating a basic joke like some sort of profound statement—that’s your problem. And honestly, why would I owe you any explanations anyway, assuming there were even any messages posted to begin with? There weren't. Just stop acting like this when you clearly don't have a sense of humor and take everything way too personally. ☕

Exactly. That’s why there’s a massive pile of banned clones sitting there with zero posts.😬

They probably ban by IP address. I've seen plenty of clones get the boot without even making a single post, and I highly doubt anyone's actually reporting those PMs.😉

Anyway, I spend most of my time on the F1 subreddit, but we had this one guy on our old forum who’d get banned like 5 to 10 times a month. I know how the cycle works—you'll occasionally get a PM from one of his clones, then a few minutes later, you realize there's nobody left to reply to.🤷

Oh my goodness, what kind of "grumpy problem" are we talking about here? Where did you even get the idea that I was taking a joke seriously? Like, can you honestly not tell—even after my second post—that the first one was just me messing around?
And hey, I even used bold text! If I really have to translate the vibe: "to lighten things up" was clearly meant as a way to say "screw it all up." You could have just responded with something like: when the mods are messing with small boxes, the admins are messing with huge shipping containers. Or maybe gas tankers. Whatever, just something significantly larger than a tiny little box.

And then somehow, I'm the one who doesn't get how to joke around... gosh, someone needs to dial down the paranoia a notch.

To be totally honest, I find it pretty offensive that you're insisting my post was anything other than a laugh.
First off, if I actually believed that massive abuses of PM's by mods or admins were happening, I wouldn't even bother checking this forum anymore.
Secondly, I would never, ever use that kind of language if I were actually trying to comment on a serious topic. Because writing something like that while actually meaning it is doubly insulting, and frankly, it's just completely distasteful to my taste.

Well, there you have it! If you had shown just once that you actually understood a joke, I might have been able to write a really clever metaphor about W. Tell and hitting the bullseye right in the middle.
That's basically how it looks.

Well, look, the moderator just told me that it all comes down to what’s actually written in the PM's. Basically, if someone decides to report them, then that's when things kick off. 🙂
Honestly, I don't think they're out there checking every single user's IP address unless something actually goes sideways and they have a real reason to step in. 😁

I mostly spend my time hanging out on the F1 PDF forums, and I’ve seen this exact scenario play out before with one particular user who seemed to catch a ban almost every single month—we're talking like five to ten times a month! It becomes such a predictable cycle, honestly. You'll frequently find yourself getting a private message from them—which, let's be real, is always just coming from one of their burner accounts—and then, literally a few minutes later, you realize there's nobody left to reply to because they've been wiped from the site again.🤷

It’s entirely possible he didn't just send that PM to you if you hadn't reported him yourself. And honestly, if he was causing that much of a headache, the mods might have already started keeping a closer eye on him and all his clones anyway. 🤷

Hey there.

Some of these clones are just painfully obvious, honestly. And if you’ve got some guy running around with five different fake accounts causing absolute chaos on the forums, you really shouldn't hesitate—you've gotta pull the plug on them immediately before they do any more damage. 😁 Even if they haven't even managed to put a single post on the board yet. 😬

I am sorry if I offended you, but I suppose we don't all share the same sense of humor or way of joking around, and I certainly can't read minds. There are people who say serious things through jokes—actually, now that I think about it, there are quite a few of those types. It isn't paranoia, really; it was just a simple misunderstanding.
My apologies once more; I truly didn't catch that last part as being 100% a joke. Everything is fine. 🤷 🙂

rustydrifter10, I am truly sorry 🙂, though it seems I am clearly suffering from a lack of sleep 😵

Why don't you two just take this to the private messages instead of airing everything out in public? 🤔 Is there somehow zero room left in your inboxes or what? 😛

Exactly—you could have joined us. We were planning on having a massive bonfire, and then comes the best part 😍

And if you're joking... I really do need to clear out my inbox. If I had a thousand messages sitting there, I wouldn't even bother deleting them; I'd probably just wait until they hit the limit before doing anything at all 😁

Let them have their fun. A little excitement wouldn't hurt around here; we don't need to spend all our time reading complaints. ☕ 😁 feraltrucker5, don't troll the thread, things were just getting good. 😠

Staying on topic—we've actually discussed increasing inbox capacity here before. I remember someone giving a solid explanation as to why the message limit is set where it is. If we could expand it, maybe we would, but I'll have to dig through the archives to find that specific thread.

Well, you guys are really something else.😢
I’m just asking nicely here,
Matthew Grant9 said:Well, there’s just a little bit of everything to go around... honestly, though, it’s enough to make you want to throw the whole damn lunchbox away!😲

Is that some kind of moderator superpower I wasn't aware of?😍

I honestly find myself wondering, what kind of special treatment are the admins actually getting to make their lives easier?🤔

I honestly don't even want to touch that whole situation regarding the copy-pasting and the moderator antics—I'd rather just stay completely silent on it!🙂

So, I was just sitting here thinking about something else entirely! I've actually been wondering about something completely different—how is everything going? I honestly don't even know where to start with this one, but here we go! Is that actually possible? I mean, seriously, could that really be happening?😕 Is that just a fluke, or is this some kind of classic, recurring glitch on the forum?

Look at this—they’re claiming a capacity of only 75 messages, which honestly feels like way too little for me! I’m definitely not the type of person who goes around deleting things unless they're absolutely overflowing, so I usually just let them pile up until the whole thing hits a breaking point. Seriously, who on earth would actually force me to sit there and manually clear out over 200 messages all at once? That sounds like a total nightmare!

But absolutely nobody is stepping up to answer me.
First, there was that misunderstanding with the moderator, which we somehow managed to smooth over, but still, zero response from her.😢
Then, another mod tries to jump in and disrupt the peace—maybe they're just feeling a bit jealous?—but again, nothing but silence from them too.😢😢
Then the super-mod shows up, and I actually start feeling hopeful, but apparently, he couldn't care less about replying.🙂 It seems like he'd rather the moderator and I just... keep entertaining each other instead.😲

So, I’ve been working hard at (not) deleting my messages, and I finally managed to hit 75 the other day. I figured, since the mods don't seem to give a tiny bit of a damn about my question, I'll just check for myself if I can push past 75.
I really want to, honestly!🙂
But my theory is full of holes, like a worn-out old sweater.🙂
How am I supposed to know right now if the reason my inbox stopped filling up at 75 is because that's actually the maximum limit, or if it's because the user in the link above messed up the quoting system, or if it's simply because nobody has sent me a message at all?

Management, could I please get an answer, even if it takes another twenty-two😠 days? Please, show a little empathy; I tried to figure it out on my own, but my little experiment totally fell apart.

I mean, maybe he just racked up a ton of warnings, you know, like picking up all those yellow and red cards?

You can receive up to 75 PM's (or whatever the current cap is), but that doesn't apply to messages from mods or admins. They can always send you a PM, regardless of whether you've hit your limit or not.

So, "receive" is the key word there? Does that mean the ones I send don't count toward that 75? Are you absolutely positive about that?
Well, whether you're sure or not, thanks so much for the effort and for getting back to me so quickly!🙏

It wasn't actually that, it was just 75 regular messages and then that extra bit, those 8 cards or points.

My bad. I misspoke. You can have a maximum of 75 PM's total—that includes both incoming and outgoing. Once you hit that limit, you can only receive messages from mods or admins. Not entirely sure how the sending side works.

Thanks again for the help, because I finally figured everything out! I came up with a brand new, super effective experiment to test this theory.😵 I was poking around my own profile just now and realized there's actually an option to send a PM to myself, just like you would to anyone else on the site. So, I decided to try sending one to myself, and this popped up:
The following errors occurred with your submission:

1. You have reached your stored private message quota and cannot send any further messages until space has been created.
2. Matthew Grant9 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.

So, if anyone else out there is currently wasting their time on silly little troubleshooting experiments like I am...
It turns out you can't send them OR receive them once you're at the limit.😛
