Noah Roberts46 said:Not bad. It’s been way too long since we’ve seen a decent serial killer flick. Anyone got any solid recommendations before this one actually hits theaters?

I find myself inclined to suggest a viewing of Mindhunters from 2004.👍

It’s quite obvious! Unlike his son, the veteran Denzel Washington possesses true charisma. And honestly, isn't it impressive how Leto surprises us every single time with those transformations?

Solid movie for me—ending was a bit different than usual, which was actually pretty cool!

I have to say, this movie was a pleasant surprise. Really solid work...

It’s a solid film. Or maybe I’ve just completely lowered my standards because I'm constantly being bombarded by absolute garbage lately. 🤔

Honestly, it’s pretty rough. I still find Rami Malek to be one of the weaker actors I've seen.

Thought it was good too. One of the better ones I've seen lately. And in a theater, too... finally, after that dumpster fire of a COVID year.

Really atmospheric. A legit crime thriller. Too bad they dragged out the ending. Plus, the finale felt a bit off once those two hop in the car and drive off into the desert.

But the cinematography, the vibe... that tension in the opening scene? That's why I go to the movies. Not for the surround sound or the 3D gimmicks.

Didn't even realize it was Leto bad Guy... thought he was someone else. 🤦

Look, the whole thing about Leto being the bad guy? That’s only because the studio decided he was. They drew a line in the sand and said, "Okay, he's the villain now." Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. It's all just whatever they want it to be.

Nah, I didn't actually think he was the killer or anything... I wasn't even sure if it was him.
Only caught it during the credits when I saw his name pop up. 🙂

I don't think I can ever get used to him looking like this now😬

S p o i l e r!

I didn't quite catch the ending—was I tripping? Did Denzel Washington buy that whole thing just to ease Rami Malek's conscience? And honestly, what does that even accomplish? If Leto isn't the culprit, then we still have a serial killer running loose out there 🙂 I just don't get it. That scene felt incredibly pretentious—and, frankly, a bit ridiculous...

For some reason, this movie snagged a Golden Globe nomination. Now, look, a GG isn't exactly the ultimate seal of quality, but this flick was so mediocre that seeing it even mentioned for a Golden Globe actually caught me off guard 😁

Still—I’m pretty sure he’s basically the youngest-looking fifty-year-old on the planet!

In the US, there are so many murders that it’s impossible to tell which pattern they’re using to link a crime to a serial killer. They kill one woman a year, yet 500 women go missing during that same period 😁

Just bury someone in a shallow grave, slap fifty or sixty other murders on their record, toss in a little planted evidence, and voilà—case closed.

He’s actually been rocking that look (long hair and the beard) for quite a while now.

But honestly, hats off to him for pulling off that greasy, small-town redneck vibe so convincingly. 👍

Well, they literally showed Denzel buying the buckle and sending it to Rami Malek (you can see it when he's burning all his stuff). 🤷

It isn't stupid at all—it's because he knows exactly how much it eats at him after killing that innocent girl (which basically ruined his entire life, by the way), so he's trying to help Rami Malek find some peace. He clearly thinks Leto isn't their man, given that they haven't found a single shred of actual proof against him.

I thought it was a pretty solid movie myself—maybe just because it's been a minute since I actually sat down in a theater to watch something. 🙂

I guess I was looking for a more sophisticated resolution than what I actually got, but unfortunately, that just wasn't happening.😁 😁

That wrench scene? Totally cringe-worthy. It felt like something straight out of an old movie from the last century—just uninspired and poorly executed... you'd never guess this was a 2020 film.🙂

...and I don't see how that's supposed to help the young cop at all, given the killer is still out there doing his thing. To me, that ending just didn't land at all.

Such a shame—with a cast this talented, I really expected something higher quality.🙂

So now we're looking at a whole new serial killer then.
😁

The guy gets killed, and the evidence proves he was the one. It isn't illogical or stupid at all.

EDIT: Besides, who's to say Jared Leto isn't a serial killer himself? That’s a very plausible angle. This movie might just be a bit too complex for you...

Of course it’s possible he was the one—it’s just that they couldn't pin down a single shred of actual evidence, so Denzel Washington just elegantly smoothed things over by buying a new buckle

Wait, I don't get it?

By the way, the movie is set in the early nineties.

Mediocre, at best. If someone had actually convinced me that Jared Leto would be the saving grace of any movie... I wouldn't have believed them.

A few brutally stupid script choices and an impossibly bad performance by Rami Malek prevent this film from escaping the clutches of being just okay. Denzel Washington looks a bit too soft here.

I know—it feels like it was actually filmed back in 1990 rather than thirty years later. There's just zero substance here; everything feels totally recycled.

5/10—that was a pretty poor film choice for Denzel. It’s a relief that Rami didn't break into song at the end of it.
