It turns out we have some paintball players on this forum! I honestly wish I had joined sooner. Looking back through some of the older threads, it’s a bit disappointing to see people dismissing paintball as "not a sport." While I agree that woodland matches can feel more like a recreational outing, speedball is absolutely a competitive sport. If anyone here is interested in paintball—regardless of the style—please feel free to shoot me a DM or drop a comment below. Does anyone have any clue where I can pick up some paintball rounds locally here in Chicago? I’ve been scouring the internet for like an hour now and all I can find are those annoying online webshops that take forever to ship...

I'm trying to figure out the actual rules they use in NPL or some other pro league. I've been scouring the web, but I can't get a straight answer on how the timing works—is it halves, thirds, or what? Looking at the scores, it seems pretty much like soccer (stuff like 2-0 or 2-1), and I know there's a flag capture element where you grab the flag from the enemy base and haul it back to yours.
If I'm tripping, someone please set me straight.

I find myself facing a bit of a predicament here, and perhaps some of you seasoned folks might be able to offer some guidance.

My Tac 5 air rifle is acting up—whenever I pull the trigger, there’s this audible hiss of gas escaping right out of the barrel... It makes me wonder, could we be looking at a faulty seal or some worn-out O-rings?
If anyone happens to recognize this particular malfunction, please speak up immediately. And if you have any inkling of what a professional repair job might run me at, I’d certainly appreciate the heads-up.

Yeah, it's definitely the seals.
Just swap them out and you should be good to go...
If that doesn't fix it, though, you'll need to pinpoint exactly where that hiss is coming from.

So, I'm looking to pick up maybe 4 to 6 rifles, and I was wondering if anyone has any solid recommendations? Maybe there are some starter bundles or kits out there that make sense. Also, I'm curious—what kind of ammo is actually best for just casual, recreational shooting? And honestly, what's the bare minimum gear I’m gonna need to get started if I just want to play around with it occasionally?

In case anyone happens to be looking to upgrade their setup, I'm thinking about selling off my gear at a pretty reasonable price...

You can grab a box of 2,000 rounds from $83 or even more if you need—honestly, just give some local paintball clubs a ring, they usually sell individual rounds too.

Could someone give me their take on Spyder rifles?
I've been approached with an offer to buy a full set of Spyder rifles, but I'm honestly not sure what to make of them or what a single unit might be worth on the used market. The seller claims they're only about two years old.

Spyder makes some seriously solid paintball markers. I’d definitely recommend them...

Does anyone know where I can find some serious paintball training around the US, specifically near Washington, D.C.? To be clear, I’m not just looking for a casual field to run around with friends for an afternoon; I want to dive into this as a legitimate sport. Does anyone know if there are actual clubs or competitive teams out there where I could really commit to it? Also, what does a membership usually run me, and am I expected to show up with a full kit of my own gear right away? I know these questions are pretty broad, but please, if you have any insights at all, throw them my way—the more detail, the better!

If the title didn't make it obvious enough, I’m looking to pull together a solid group of about 8 to 12 people who are genuinely into paintball. You don't need to be a pro or some tactical expert, but it would be ideal if you aren't total rookies and at least understand the basics. Finding a dedicated crew for an "atypical" sport like this isn't nearly as easy as finding a pickup game of basketball or a casual round of golf. 🙂

The goal would be to get together once or twice a month—or maybe even more often depending on how much momentum we build—to get out there and play. Ideally, I'd love to establish a consistent roster of regulars. Let me know what you think and if anyone is actually interested. 😁
