I think this hits the mark for what you're looking for.

I want to jump in here because I have a similar question. Does anyone know any movies set in the Middle Ages? Or even later—it doesn't have to be supernatural. Ideally, I’m looking for that Gothic vibe. I really want films where they wear those beautiful vintage dresses and big crinolines. Something like Northanger Abbey, or maybe a Victorian melodrama like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Actually, hold on—it's definitely Medieval. Just rewatched a bit of it and the description says: The story is set in a semi-mythical medieval Europe.

It’s definitely Black Death

Maybe this one feels like a Blood on Satan's Cloth style horror flick from the 70s—but look, if you’re counting Army of Darkness as a horror movie, then this is terrifying. If you’re hunting for something polished and "Hollywood-made," your best bet is the new Black Death, though I’d definitely suggest The Name of the Rose instead. 🙏In my personal opinion, I haven't seen any other film capture the actual atmosphere of the Middle Ages quite like this latest one does...

This is an old-school horror classic centered around the Middle Ages and witchcraft—definitely one of those films I’d warmly recommend if you're looking for something atmospheric.

Excalibur (1981)

It’s not exactly a horror or a thriller—more like a supernatural fantasy with plenty of witchcraft. 😁 Set deep in the Early Middle Ages, it tackles the whole King Arthur, Merlin, and Knights of the Round Table thing, but does it in this incredibly dark way... which honestly feels right for the era.

Bergman's stuff is always rooted in psychology, so trying to label The Seventh Seal as some medieval horror or thriller is just... kind of silly.
Sure, it takes place back then, but we should be looking at what the movie is actually about, right?
It's really a metaphor for how fleeting life is and searching for meaning in the face of death...

The movie is great, but it isn't really a horror or a thriller 😁...plus there is quite a bit of nudity. 😉

I watched Black Death. I suppose the whole point was just to show what the church used to be like... and that's about it. I expected more. Regardless, the pacing is tighter than Centurion.
The casting feels off. Besides Boromir, you've got some kid playing the lead priest... and then there's just Bora Copy/Paste from LOTRA 😁
