Why does it matter if I don't care for the godfather trilogy? Does that make me stupid? Does it mean I have no idea about movies? Am I supposed to stay out of every single film discussion just because the godfather trilogy isn't my everything? Seriously. 🙄Honestly, film "experts" like you are the absolute worst. 😠

Cut the nonsense.

I'm the one talking nonsense? Your only argument for Vampires being a bad movie is that I don't love the godfather trilogy as much as you do.

It’s kind of wild, honestly—image image image

Hmm... the first review I stumbled upon says the new Carpenter flick isn't exactly writing greatness...

TIFF Review: John Carpenter's The Ward

I really wish I could say The Ward marks a true return to form for Carpenter. I practically grew up watching his stuff; Halloween, ESCAPE from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, and They Live are absolute essentials for me. Honestly, I’ve even got a soft spot for some of his total misses, like MEMOIRS of an INVISIBLE man and Escape from L.A. Even though he hasn't dropped a solid movie in at least twelve years—Vampires came out in '98, though most people would probably point to in The Mouth of Madness as his last real vintage Carpenter Flick—I was still stoked to hear Carpenter was getting back behind the lens. That said, I definitely had doubts about such a tired premise. The whole "pretty girls being picked off one-by-one" thing feels totally played out, and let's be real, he basically helped invent the genre!
Honestly, this isn't vintage Carpenter, and it might actually be a worse movie.
Better than Ghosts of Mars? Honestly, I can't wrap my head around why Carpenter would pick such a cheesy, uninspired flick for his comeback.

3/10

It's finally here--

Trailerr

--honestly. It’s pretty short, kind of feels more like a teaser than anything else...

I don't think I've ever witnessed such a dense concentration of clichés in under sixty seconds.

And it almost feels like even the lead actress might have misread the genre, at least based on how she looks here.

She’s actually done horror before...

Full Trailer

Here's the poster and the full trailer... Honestly, it feels like just another run-of-the-mill slasher, kind of like the endless flood of those we've been seeing lately...

So, let me wrap this whole thing up. Just some final thoughts, observations, and a little bit of personal shit... The Ward

Watched it over the weekend and I'm pretty satisfied. Even though Carpenter hinted at being in good shape with the Masters of Horror films, I didn't actually expect to enjoy The Ward. It’s a light, unpretentious, yet sufficiently unsettling horror, much like the stuff he was doing back in eighties Carpenter's era.

A huge disappointment for me... It was such a bland movie, I couldn't wait for it to end.
I really thought > meant the master was finally getting back into form, but it looks like that was just a brief flash in the pan.

Is there actually anyone out there who thinks this could be a decent movie? Does anyone honestly plan on heading to the theater with any real intention of watching this? I’ve sat through enough absolute garbage this year—tons of trash, endless American "comedies," and even more brainless horror flicks. But this...
it's just a predictable freak show. It couldn't get any cheaper if they tried, and don't even get me started on the special effects, the plot, or the acting... 🙏

Honestly, I was pretty disappointed too. There isn't even a real payoff at the end—it just drags on forever, being totally predictable and stretched thin with maybe three decent scares. I expected way more from a Carpenter Flick, but this was just... nothing. It completely missed that amazing sense of dread where you actually want to leave the lights on when you go to bed 🙂 Seriously, such a waste of time
