You've actually already had one correction—and per the rules, you're only allowed to change your handle once.

Yes, that was back when I first registered—I completely forgot to include the letter "t," so I just added a single character at the beginning ages ago. It isn't a major correction, really; could we just have the word "Donna" removed?

If someone decides to ditch their handle, it doesn't just vanish—the nickname stays attached to the account on Reddit, along with every single one of those old posts they left behind. 🙂 I guess that means, in practice, the name is still basically taken.

You could always just swap out your handle from Matthew Chavez to something like herbi ruls, dr. herbi, or even the herbicidna... then someone else would be free to grab the original name.

To be specific—just using this as a practical example—if Sean Ti renounces his nickname and switches to Shaun t over the next four days, does that mean I'm free to register that old name and become the user Sean Ti?🤔

I don't think I quite caught your drift there. So, in that situation you brought up with Son, you mean that nickname actually becomes available for anyone to grab?

I guess I was thinking when you said 'renounce,' maybe you meant those people who just vanish completely—you know, they log off for good and decide they aren't ever touching that specific handle again, maybe even picking up a totally different one instead. I suppose those kinds of cases happen too.

Would it be possible to change my username to "jadebear25," or perhaps just "Jadebear25"? Essentially, anything other than all capital letters would suffice. I was quite inexperienced with the internet when I first registered, and frankly, I find it a bit embarrassing to post with a handle that feels like it is shouting at everyone. :-)
