Where am I missing the mark? If you could provide some more specific guidance, I’d appreciate it.

My current process is a bit of a cumbersome workaround—I tend to hit Quote, copy the entire block, strip out the parts I don't need, write my response, then paste the whole thing back in just to prune it again, and repeat the cycle indefinitely.

trying my best.🙄

The way I usually handle this is the hard way—I hit Quote, grab the whole block, delete whatever junk I don't need, type my reply,

then paste the whole thing back in, trim it down again, answer, repeat...[/I]

🤷

Nah, that wouldn't work...

Damn, I just can't wrap my head around it.🤣

I usually take the long way around doing that one

Am I overthinking it?🙂

Just highlight the specific part of the text you want to respond to, hit that "wrap quote" icon, and then start typing right after it!

Is this how you do it?
Everything keeps showing up inside one giant quote block because you aren't closing out the quote tag at the end.

Or am I totally off base here?

I have a couple of questions:

1. How do I quote a post that’s already quoting someone else? I'm trying to nest them—you know, having one quoted block inside another rather than just stacking them on top of each other.

2. Is there a better way to split up a single post into several different replies while keeping the original author's name attached to each part? Up until now, I've just been manually copying and pasting the username along with those little ID numbers, which is honestly such a chore... is there a faster, more streamlined way to handle this?

Like this:

[/CODE]

And then you get this:

I don't know any "simpler" method either. You just write everything out, then at the end, paste "=xyz" wherever it needs to go.

The number doesn't matter, except in the first quote; /the number is just the URL to the original post/

Do I really have to type out the "quote" tag along with the username manually, or is there actually a button for that somewhere?

Highlight the text you want, then just click the quote icon.

First, click the icon. That should get you what's shown below.
Python code:
[ICODE][COLOR=#000000] [COLOR=#007700][[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]][/[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]] [/COLOR][/COLOR][/ICODE]

...pa onda između pejstaš tekst.
To add a quote, just insert an "=" followed by the username of the person you're quoting. It ends up looking like this:
->

Regarding your question about nested quotes, here is what "empty" code looks like:
Python code:
[ICODE][COLOR=#000000] [COLOR=#007700][[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]=[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]x[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]][[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]=[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]y[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]]++++[/[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]]- - -[/[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]] [/COLOR][/COLOR][/ICODE]

Basically, you just click the icon, move your cursor to where the text goes, and click the icon again. That's it. No pluses, minuses, or extra steps required.
The first username contains the minuses; the second holds the pluses.

Thanks, that actually made writing this a little less stressful... though my actual problem hasn't really changed. When I hit that quote button in the bottom right corner, the editor just pulls in the specific person I'm replying to—it doesn't include whatever they were originally quoting. So, the big question is: how do I grab both parts? Am I stuck manually hunting down the original message and pasting it into my own post myself, or is there a better way?

To make it simpler (I feel like I'm doing math homework at this point) 😁

Let's say Mike said something... then John quoted him... I want my reply to show John's entire post, including Mike's original words. Is that possible? And if it is, how do I pull it off?

Just click that little arrow on his post—you know, the one by marijevog—and it’ll jump you right there. Then just hit the multi-quote button, head back over to lukin's post, and hit quote.

Man, you’ve completely lost me here 😕 what arrow are you even talking about? Every time I pull up a post, all I see in the bottom right corner are those three buttons—quote, multi-quote, and quick reply—but I'm definitely not seeing any arrows...

If you mean that little arrow next to a user's name—you know, the white one inside the blue square—I already gave that a shot. The problem is, it just stacks both posts right on top of each other instead of nesting them together like they should

That’s how you actually nest one post inside the other. 🤷

If you’re talking about that little white arrow in the blue box right next to a user's name—yeah, I gave that a shot. But honestly? It doesn't really work the way I wanted it to. Instead of nesting one post inside the other like a proper reply, it just dumps both posts right on top of each other, one after the other. Super annoying.

There. Five seconds of work, that's all it took.

That’s that.

I don't really know what to make of this—it feels like we're just circling the drain at this point. I was thinking about it earlier, maybe while grabbing a coffee in Seattle, and it hit me how much noise there is in these discussions without any actual substance. It’s all just... well, you know. A lot of talking, very little doing. Anyway, just my two cents. The user says:
So, if you want to get that working—just click the little arrow on Mario's post to jump straight to it, hit the multi-quote button, then head back over to Luke's post and hit quote. Simple enough, really.

It’s happening—it’s actually happening.

Basically, when I hit that quote button in the bottom right corner, my reply window only shows the specific post I'm replying to, instead of including the stuff they were already quoting—so, how do I get both layers of the quote in there? Do I seriously have to go hunting for the original text manually?

Something’s definitely off—I’m not seeing those little arrows that let you jump back to the original post
