So, here I am. I click on the posts next to a specific thread title, expecting to see nothing but my own contributions—because, frankly, why should I waste my breath scrolling through endless pages of everyone else's nonsense? It worked perfectly fine before, but for the last few days, all I get is this useless message: Sorry no matches - please try some different terms. And don't tell me there's nothing there; the post count clearly shows my messages exist. 😬

What on earth is going on? 🙂

p.s. I just realized the issue is even broader. The search function on the classifieds section is completely broken; it won't find my posts at all, and I have quite a few of them. 😕

Too short?

I’d say terms like clock speed, mobile, RAM, CPU... those probably won't turn up anything...

It seems they can't even locate their own previous posts within the Clothing Sales and Swaps section of the Small Classifieds.

And honestly, we aren't the only ones who have noticed this pattern—

So, the user in purple says they did that on purpose. Honestly, it makes sense because on the local Craigslist classifieds, old posts eventually get wiped out anyway, and they just disabled the search function to prevent constant re-indexing from absolutely hammering the servers.

I’m honestly suggesting you just scrap the search function entirely because it serves zero purpose here,

To everyone else: tell them where they can shove it and just use Google instead. (Or Yahoo, Windows, Wolfram, whatever—just make sure you hit them with enough crawlers to strain the server. You have to be careful though, since some search engines actually pull from Google’s index or Yahoo’s, so keep that in mind.)
Just follow this method: (specifically for Google)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&cl...a%C5%BEi&meta=

For example: "selling home theater system site:usforums.com"

I see, but what about a thread like this topic? It exists specifically so community members can search through it to check if a buyer or seller is on the blacklist or whitelist—which, let’s be honest, is sometimes absolutely critical... 🤷
Now it seems we're left with the task of manually scrolling through all 101 pages just to find that one specific answer, doesn't it? 😕

It's quite a nightmare, really. 😲

Is this meant to be a temporary fix, or is this the permanent "solution" for keeping the server load down? 😳

What exactly do you mean by 'posts getting wiped'? Fine, maybe inactive threads or ancient topics get purged, but does that really apply to the most active discussions on the site? 😕

And if it does, then what is the point? Why bother displaying the total post count in a thread if I can't even go back and actually read them? 😕

Great 😠

So how am I supposed to find the ad I posted months ago? It's still active since nothing sold yet.
Is everyone just gonna let me repost the same thing over and over? Finding old stuff in all those massive subreddits and marketplaces is a nightmare..
Ugh.. I hate this!
