So, I’ve let things slide quite a bit lately—I've actually put on about 55 pounds over the last year.
I am standing at 6 feet tall and weighing in at 253 pounds right now.
What is the most efficient way to drop this weight in a short amount of time? 🤷

Losing 25 kg in a single month isn't exactly what I'd call healthy...🤣

You've got plenty of threads on here dedicated to dieting and fitness... you know as well as I do that there’s no magic bullet for success... and let's not get worked up about it, Trevor.

It's just that summer is hitting, and everyone wants to look good in a swimsuit... you're supposed to plan for that well in advance.

You didn't "let yourself go a bit"; you let yourself go completely. Realizing that distinction is your first step toward progress.
Losing 55 pounds in a month is only possible if you undergo major surgery or lose a limb.
Eat less and move more—anything works. Walk, run, ride a bike; just start moving. That will be plenty for now. Once you’ve dropped the first 10 to 20 pounds, come back and we can discuss more intense training regimens.
Good luck.

33 pounds by September??? Are we talking about this year or next?
Do yourself a favor and Google "rapid weight loss" and click any of those links. You'll find they all tell you the exact same thing.

This year
I’m planning to get out there and run every single day, too...
Do you really think the weight is just going to snap right back if I drop it too fast?

You’ll bounce back—assuming you stop eating like you did back when you were losing everything.

👍 See, you totally get it!

Trust me on this one, the faster you crash the scale, the faster that weight comes sprinting back. And honestly, you’ll probably end up heavier than when you started. Once it hits, it's like, good luck getting it off again, seriously. 🙂

Just listen to what Johnny is telling you.

Once I finally hit that 100kg mark—which, let's be honest, will be a monumental milestone—then, and only then, will I actually step foot into the gym 🙏

The general consensus seems to be that losing about two pounds a week is the ideal pace...
which implies—if my math serves me correctly—that I’ll need roughly twenty-five weeks to drop those fifty pounds. 😕

Yeah. If you actually stick to it and stay consistent, you'll have that perfect summer body by next 🙂

If it took you a full year to pack on 25 pounds, it’s going to take just as long to shed them... trust me 😁

I’ve found that even making these tiny, almost insignificant tweaks to your daily routine can actually start to shift things.
Like, maybe try taking the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator, or just walk an extra couple of blocks to the subway station. I also find that drinking a glass of water right before lunch helps fill you up a bit, so you probably won't overeat by much.
It might be better to stick to just one slice of bread rather than two during lunch or dinner.
And if you're craving dessert, I guess grabbing a yogurt is probably a smarter move than reaching for a chocolate bar or some heavy pastry.
Even something as simple as choosing to stand on the bus or train instead of hunting for a seat makes a difference.
I suppose all those little adjustments eventually add up to something noticeable over the long haul.👍

I guess people who lose weight don't quite grasp that everything comes crawling back if you just slide right back into your old habits. If someone actually decides to slim down, it really means they have to overhaul their whole diet, their exercise routine, their entire way of life. And once you finally hit that target weight you've been chasing, you pretty much have to stick to that "regimen" indefinitely. It isn't enough to just starve yourself and hit the gym until you reach a certain number on the scale, because, well, obviously, the weight is just going to come right back.

Losing 25 pounds in a month? Maybe if you rig the scale to lie to you. 25 pounds. =)

So, seriously, give me the secret—how on earth did you manage to pack on 25kg in just one year? I feel like I’ve been eating like a total beast, basically shoving everything in sight down my throat, but the scale just won't budge an inch...

Well, I ate quite a bit—mostly nothing but pizza and other junk food every single day—plus plenty of beer 👍

Look, you’ve got it completely backwards. Seriously. You can't just jump straight to cutting. First, you need to get in the gym and actually put on some muscle mass—build that foundation so you're burning more calories even when you're just sitting around. And while you're at it? Fix the diet. We're talking high protein, complex carbs, and keeping an eye on the calorie count. You gotta control the intake if you want this to actually work.
Look, if you can manage around 2,000 calories a day, that should be plenty. You'll definitely start seeing those pounds drop off once you get moving. I mean, I told you that myself, but don't go thinking you're going to have this whole thing figured out by September. It’s not that simple.

Look, if you decide to go running on some extreme, crash diet bullshit, you’re basically just throwing your body into a state of total shock. It’s not even a contest. Your system is going to flip an automatic switch straight into survival mode. It starts hoarding every single calorie like it’s gold in a recession, and before you know it? It’ll start cannibalizing your own muscle mass just to keep the lights on before it even touches a lick of fat. It's brutal.
You lose a few pounds, right? You think you’ve finally made it. Then you take one bite of something decent—just one—and boom. Instant bloat. It's like my stomach turns into a giant parade balloon overnight. Just total inflation.
