I have a bit of an issue regarding increased body hair. It isn’t extreme, but it has become a subconscious nuisance. I am 22 years old, and since I started taking certain protein supplements, I've noticed hair sprouting in places I would rather avoid—specifically on my shoulders, my lower back, my chest, and my abdomen. I stay quite active with sports, and while my dating life hasn't been affected by this—my ex didn't mind at all—I find myself feeling self-conscious about the upcoming summer. The thought of being shirtless or undressed in public is becoming a source of genuine embarrassment. Does anyone know what the typical cost for laser hair removal looks like these days, and is it actually an effective solution for someone in my position? Thanks in advance.

I'm dealing with the exact same thing... you were definitely using protein powders or something similar, right?

I only take Transport protein to manage excess testosterone, but frankly, the hair growth is becoming an issue. My physique is in relatively good shape—which makes this unwanted hair even more out of place. Two years ago, I didn't deal with this much, but now I’ve got patches on my shoulders and my lower back. It is quite frustrating, especially with summer right around the corner. Has anyone here undergone laser hair removal? If so, please reach out. I won't lie, friend; this is starting to weigh on my confidence.

Excess testosterone? Look, I don't know anything about this "TRANSPORT" brand, but I have a strong feeling we aren't talking about standard whey protein here. We're talking anabolic steroids. I highly doubt regular protein supplements would cause those kinds of hormonal shifts. Forgive me if I'm off base, but you might want to take a hard look at what you're actually putting into your body with those "proteins."🙂

Honestly, looking at your situation, I’m pretty convinced we’re talking about steroids here—specifically testosterone—because that kind of unwanted hair growth is a classic side effect. There is just no way some protein powder could trigger something like that.🙂
As for what laser hair removal actually costs, it really depends on which city you’re living in and which clinic you go to. A good friend of mine went through the whole process; it definitely works, but man, it is not cheap. If I remember correctly, she ended up spending somewhere around $4,500 total, broken down into five sessions at about $900 each. She had them scheduled every few months, maybe even more frequently if my memory serves me right, and you absolutely have to stay out of the sun for at least a year while your skin recovers from the treatment.

They aren't steroids, but I dropped down to 194 lbs since I stopped using them (I was around 205 lbs before). My strength was higher than ever when I was on them, but it has been seven months since I quit. I've lost some mass, and those side effects started creeping in. One guy even told me straight up that his hair was falling out. These days, I'm hitting the gym five or six times a week, but maintaining momentum is significantly more difficult now that I'm off the cycle.

Look, my take is simple: pure protein supplements aren't going to trigger those kinds of side effects, but anabolics definitely can—think increased body hair or thinning hair. It all comes down to how testosterone levels are being managed. You even mentioned yourself that these things are used to "offset excess testosterone." So, there’s your connection right there. Even though I’m drifting a bit from the main point, my honest advice to you is to steer clear of that stuff. These symptoms you're seeing are nothing compared to the massive complications that can spiral out of using those types of preparations...

Perhaps you're right; there's no telling what exactly was in what I purchased. I haven't touched it in seven months, and I never will again. On Monday, I'm calling a specialist at a clinic like Mayo Clinic to figure out my next steps, because the issues I'm dealing with right now are incredibly frustrating. Regarding the cost, I heard a treatment might run around $1,000, but if it actually fixes my problems, I won't regret spending the money. Whatever happens, happens....

Look, regardless of how you see it, I'm telling you this with the best intentions: stop using them immediately. Be more careful moving forward, because these things can seriously mess up your health. Definitely get in touch with your doctor and get some tests done; you might find a much cheaper way to deal with whatever you're facing. Take care.

Same here... honestly, everything's already been said... more or less... you can just hit up a pinned thread to ask about doctors, or grab some protein advice while you're hitting the gym... I'm out.
