Donna, props to you for not trashing a classic like that, but hey, if you prefer this one, fine by me. To some people, both versions work—it really just comes down to what you're into.

I'm not joking, which pretty much means we're dealing with some kind of K 😂

Do me a favor—don't even bother watching The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) ever again, because clearly, it's not your cup of tea.

You basically tried to reinvent the wheel by obsessively bolding a movie that literally everyone has seen. Then, in a desperate attempt to feel relevant, you decided to trash a classic. Not only can you not explain why Prince should be considered bad, but you don't even have a clue why you're calling this rating a masterpiece.
The only pathetic response you'll probably give is: "just watch The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) again, maybe then you'll see how much better it is."

As if the original legend wasn't a children's story to begin with... I mean, Richard is usually portrayed as this righteous king, but in reality, he was a complete moron who wasted everything on the Crusades—and then had the nerve to die during the siege of some random castle in England..
But regarding the movie... honestly, it's no surprise; Hollywood is so overflowing with "original" ideas that it's getting ridiculous... they'll probably end up doing a remake of Casablanca or The Godfather next... modern creativity is just painfully lazy.

They dropped the teaser for the Robin Hood remake.

It’s just a teaser, but it looks promising. I’m actually digging the music. 👍

That teaser

Scott honestly has this knack for turning basically any single frame into a visual masterpiece, which I guess makes him one of those rare directors who actually knows what they're doing.

To me, this new movie feels way too much like Gladiator. I really don't think Robin Hood should be portrayed this way.

Seriously, can they squeeze any more juice out of this Robin Hood guy??
Or is this just some pathetic byproduct of the writers' strike? 😁

Russell is 46 and Cate is 41... sure, they're bringing a fresh perspective to the story and we've got a top-tier director at the helm, but what kind of Robin Hood are we actually getting here?? Is this just some movie made for retirees?☕

Well, yeah... just like 99% of all post-production work—I’d much rather deal with Robin Hood featuring Fairbanks or Flynn. 🙂

So what if they're that old? 🙄
Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Clooney, Depp, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman, Clive Owen, Naomi Watts, Marisa Tomei, Ashley Judd—I’m not going to list every Hollywood star who hit forty and still carries themselves well. Some look better than others, sure. But I’d much rather watch Russell, whom you insist on calling a retiree, playing Robin Hood alongside the stunning Cate, than sit through the endless parade of twenty-somethings currently clogging up Hollywood. ☕
Besides, boundaries shift and years fly by. Fifty years isn't much, especially since you don't even hit retirement age until after sixty.

Man, those two movies are basically twins...
...think about it. You've got Gladiator... Maximus is an honorable general who serves his country, then his family is taken from him and he's forced into slavery to seek revenge. Then look at Robin Hood... he serves the crown in the Crusades, comes home to find his father dead, his title stripped, and his village looted by the Sheriff. All he has left is to become an outlaw and get even. Don't you see any similarities there?

As for the casting, I think Russell Crowe is a perfect choice. He’s exactly what the role needs, and I have a feeling this is going to be a great film.

I'd much rather see Russell or some middle-aged actor who actually looks like a hero than some teenage kid playing a legend when he still looks like he hasn't even moved out of his parents' basement.

Fine—I was being a little sarcastic... It's not that I have anything against them in a modern flick where the chemistry would be explosive at sixteen, but here? They just don't work for me. Period.🤷

The trailers look awesome. I’m usually a huge fan of this kind of stuff, so I have a feeling I’m going to love this one.

That international poster...

I think Crowe is a killer choice. There’s no rule saying Robin Hood has to be some dainty guy in tights, even if Errol Flynn will always be the one and only original for me. Then again, Kevin Costner was a pretty "wild card" pick too—not nearly as smooth or charming as Flynn—but he turned out alright. Since this version is supposed to be grittier, rawer, and more realistic (which I don't doubt since Ridley Scott is directing), Crowe is IMO an excellent pick...

And don't even get me started on Sean Connery... that balding, bearded, aged version of a "spunky forest guy" was something else. But yeah, Crowe works for me too—he fits that vibe of a battle-hardened warrior taking on the system... he just has this classic adventure energy about him...
