Has anyone here dealt with this diagnosis specifically because of a surgical procedure?
I’m really curious about what the situation looks like now—things like recovery options, different types of therapy, or just any personal experiences you might be willing to share.

First off—how severe is the paralysis? Are we talking unilateral or bilateral? And what kind of procedure was performed? Personally, I deal with mild paralysis on my left side, along with intermittent issues with swallowing and speech. It’s a deeply unsettling sensation—that feeling where your throat tightens up, leaving you unable to talk or even cough properly. For me, this was the fallout from surgery and a brainstem tumor that partially damaged the glossopharyngeal cranial nerve. In my case, there simply isn't a therapy available.

I’m dealing with some left-sided paralysis following a recurrent injury during surgery to remove a tumor. I’ve been going through speech therapy, and while things are definitely looking up, I still hit a wall when I try to talk in a busy coffee shop, deal with loud background noise, or attempt to shout over something.
