Goku is just too naive and, frankly, dim-witted.

Anyway, I was thinking that DBZ really should have wrapped things up right after Freeze
Once Goku made it back home. Or, if I recall correctly, Toriyam intended for him to die there, which would have been a perfect end to the series. But fans kept demanding more, so they started making up episodes on the fly. 😁
Ending it at Freeze would have been a masterpiece. Amen to that.

It really shouldn't have ended with Freeze.
I mean, if they did, we wouldn't even get that whole intense moment where Gohan is absolutely losing his mind against Cell and finally snaps into SS2.

It honestly feels pretty lazy that Goku and Vegeta only get their SS4 power-ups right at the very end of GT.

Well, I'll be. And here I was watching it on YouTube last night. (My DVD collection is currently out on loan, so I have to make do with what I can find.)

What does Gohan have to do with this?
I'm saying Toriyama envisioned DBZ more like this...
Raditz shows up and wrecks them, Goku dies, then Vegeta and Nappa show up and wreck them, so they head to Namek for the Dragon Balls because Piccolo died, hear about Frieza, meet him, Vegeta gets killed by him, Goku goes SS, everyone flees, those two fight, Frieza dies, and Goku dies at the end of Dragon Ball Z. But fans started looking for extra drama and making things up—Androids, Cell, all that, Buu, and every enemy Goku almost wipes out with a Genki Dama. It feels pointless.
The whole thing is fine to watch, but it drags on afterward. Half a planet gets blown up, or take the transformations—why doesn't he just go SS2 immediately and finish anyone off with a single punch or a massive blast instead of fighting for two days straight?
Or like when Goku throws the Genki Dama at Buu, and the guy just stands there screaming; why didn't he just move out of the way?
Goku was fast enough, and Frieza was too.
Honestly, it's nonsense. Everything after Frieza feels filler-heavy.

Anyway... I don't expect the movie to be a masterpiece, though I might be surprised. I'll leave that to them. 🙂
I'm just hoping for a solid fight without excessive dialogue.

These English dub episodes are terrible.
There are 26 of them, whereas the original Japanese version has 291 episodes, and it sounds ten times better in the original Japanese than this weird English dub. That’s all.

I honestly wish we could just sit back and watch a live-action Dragon Ball movie—one of those fever dreams you’d never actually dare to entertain in your wildest nightmares. I mean, what kind of lunatic even attempts a live-action adaptation of Dragon Ball? 😲

But hey, hope springs eternal, and maybe—just maybe—this turns out to be decent. I see Stephen Chow is producing, so not all faith is lost.

On a side note, sure, Vegeta might be a badass, but let's not overlook the one guy who can actually go toe-to-toe with him in terms of sheer excellence: Piccolo. There is nothing quite as intimidating as a six-foot-plus, dead-serious green guy with tentacles—someone who can literally slice off his own hand just to prove how tough he is, then use it to beat you senseless if everything else fails 👍 (not to mention, the guy is basically a god).

I’m a huge fan of Dragon Ball and DBZ. I haven't even seen every single episode yet, and I’d love to see them aired on TV again—back when networks like ABC used to run them. Forget Nora Fora, Pokémon, or Yu-Gi-Oh!; Dragon Ball and DBZ are five times more entertaining and better written. That said, I have a feeling the movie won't live up to the source material. 🤷

Word on the street is the movie won't follow the anime's plot, but it should be spectacular given they dropped $100 million on it.
The film is essentially finished, and now they're just polishing the special effects. Apparently, FOX caught a glimpse of the first few shots, and the buzz is that it looks incredible. I’m dying to see the trailer, though I highly doubt it'll recoup that full $100 million.
Maybe it pulls in around $80 million.
Or perhaps more; it really depends on the fans. A lot of people are worried it'll be a total disaster since bringing Goku to life in a live-action setting is a massive gamble.😁
Still, as an HC fan, I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.😁

I watched this back in my younger days on FOX (German dubbing, naturally), and I barely understood a word because it was all in German 😁. Though, I suppose I learned enough to excel in my language classes later on 😉
. I recall my brother and I watching DBZ on Pro7 (or some similar station) where they used Polish translations, making the names absolutely ridiculous: Cell was called Komurčak 😂 and even Piccolo had some absurd title. Anyone?
Does anyone know who the cast includes here?

It seems like German professors aren't even remotely aware of how much some of us actually owe our language skills to American networks like FOX and those afternoon animated series they used to air. 😁 It wasn't just Dragon Ball, either—we had Ranma 1/2, Monster Rancher, Sailor Moon, Detective Conan, Do Re Mi... you name it.

Do Re Mi! What an absolute classic; my niece is obsessed with it. It was practically made for little girls and those with a witch's soul. 😬
