I was honestly doubling over laughing during the first half, though maybe a little less so later on, but I suspect there were plenty of people in the theater who just didn't get the joke at all. Russell Brand is an absolute genius, truly hilarious and just such a standout performer... as for the rest of the cast, well...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - 8/10 - Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by this one; it’s such a vibe. I’d definitely recommend it to couples, or even if you're flying solo. That song at the end? It's an absolute earworm—I've had it on repeat for a while now. I was actually pretty skeptical before watching because I'd heard people trashing it, but I’m so glad I tuned out the noise and just gave it a shot. This is definitely a solid movie to watch with your significant other.

Top scenes:

1.) Right at the start when he’s getting intimate with his girlfriend, having no clue she's about to become his ex. 🙏

2.) That "advice" he gets from the pediatrician. 🤣

3.) The plane ride. Everyone else is cracking up at the comedy, but poor guy just sits there staring into space, looking totally miserable.🙈

4.) In Hawaii. He runs into his ex in the hotel lobby and they trade a few words, then her new boyfriend suddenly shows up and starts getting all handsy with her right in front of him. Poor guy didn't know where to look. 🙏

5.) When his ex feels the sting after the receptionist mentions that her ex is staying in the most expensive suite, while her current guy is just some loser who struggles with addiction and is cheating on her. 🤣 The receptionist is actually kind of a legend—she hooked him up with a suite he could barely afford just to help him get back on his feet. Talk about looking out for someone!

6.) When he’s trying to spy on his ex and her new guy, and his friend is screaming at him over the phone, calling him an idiot and telling him to stop, but he just won't listen. 🤣 - Vera 👍

7.) When he gets the "prime" seat in the restaurant with a direct view of everything. 🙏 🙏

8.) That awkward moment when the song "In You" plays while that couple is struggling through some really bad sex. 🤣

Honestly, the movie is a total wash, just complete nonsense. But that one scene where the surfer basically says, "when life gives you lemons...just say 'fuck the lemons,' and bail." is absolute legend status. 🙏

I was pretty disappointed with the movie too... I guess I only stuck it out until the end because of Kristen Bell 😍😍😍😍

I’m probably going to forget this movie even existed by tomorrow morning. On a scale of one to ten, it’s a solid three.

I thought it was great. I can see why some folks didn't love it, but a 3? Come on, people..

That rating is strictly my own opinion, which might be because I have a massive allergy to those typical American romantic comedies that usually feel about as deep as a puddle in a parking lot—most of them just lack any semblance of actual wit or cleverness.

Just saying, this score is based entirely on my own personal taste.

I actually really liked this movie! It was just so sweet, simple, and totally unpretentious. Honestly, I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit.
Overall, it’s just a great way to kill an afternoon. 🍿

It’s true the movie drags toward the end, probably because the writer and lead actor got a bit too caught up in their own egos. But, 🙂 cut out the generalizations: Americans, Brits, romantic comedies... I've spent way too much time nitpicking to offer any real constructive criticism 😁, but this one was actually pretty decent...
Just a heads-up, my rating is purely based on my own taste. 😁 😉

I honestly think this movie is a masterpiece. It’s such a refreshing departure from the usual romantic comedy tropes you see everywhere. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched it, and every single time, I end up cracking up at Russell Brand’s accent 🙂. If I had one gripe, Jonah Hill feels a little bit grating at times, but he fits the role well enough that I can overlook it. Honestly, what can I even do when Appatowa nails my specific taste every single time?

This movie was absolute nonsense... It’s been a long time since I sat through something so mindless that I couldn't even force myself to finish it, no matter how hard I tried.

I completely agree. When I saw this in the theater, I was losing it over some of those jokes that are so uniquely Russell Brand, while most of the people sitting around me seemed totally unimpressed.
I think it boils down to this: if you're already a fan of his style, you'll love it, because he poured so much of his own personality and signature wit into the role...

A beautiful, high-quality, understated film—I don't typically gravitate toward this genre, but this one was absolute perfection. 🙏

I caught it this afternoon and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. There are just a few brief moments where it leans into those typical rom-com tropes, but otherwise, it holds up quite well. It feels like a totally unpretentious flick—almost as if they just whipped it together on a whim, yet it turned out to be more than decent for its genre. Russell is NAJSSSS

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is exactly how rom-coms should be—not greasy or pathetic, just funny, actually engaging, and packed with killer performances. It hits all those marks, making it easily the best surprise of 2008.

Watched it yesterday and, honestly, I was a bit let down. It doesn't quite hit the heights of the previous films from Appatowa—but then again, it’s still miles ahead of most other American comedies out there right now.

Personally, I found it decent, especially with a few genuinely hilarious moments sprinkled in. If I recall correctly, I gave it about a week before deciding; those funny bits tend to hit you in waves rather than maintaining a steady rhythm. It was a bit of a rollercoaster—one minute I’d be laughing, then it would get tedious, then back to laughter, then back to boredom... But all things considered: 👍

When you’ve landed a great career and a world-famous, stunning girlfriend, life feels pretty much peaked, doesn't it? At least, that was the logic Peter followed, right up until everything went sideways.

Peter Bretter is essentially the type of guy who loves blindly, catering to his partner's every whim even when she treats him like an afterthought... which is exactly what defines his six-year relationship with Sarah Marshall, a rising star in the TV industry. It seems whenever she picks up an award, he isn't even a footnote in her lengthy list of thank-yous, and he's usually ushered out of the shot before the photographers can even snap a picture. His primary role is simply ensuring she has everything she needs, remaining on standby twenty-four hours a day...

And yet, Peter doesn't seem to mind the imbalance, contentedly convincing himself that he's actually happy. That is, until the day Sarah walks out on him, leaving him completely adrift. If we're being honest, this might be the best thing that ever happened to him, but it's hard to feel sympathy for the guy when he's lost his entire sense of purpose... After six years of being part of a duo, he's suddenly alone. So, what's the move? A classic, old-school American road trip to clear the head. Without much deliberation, Peter heads off to Hawaii to find some clarity, only to stumble into a rather "pleasant" surprise. While staying at his resort, he runs right into his ex, who is currently accompanied by her new boyfriend, the famous British rock star Aldous Snow.

As he struggles to process the reality that Sarah has wiped the slate clean and moved on, he finds a bit of solace in flirting with Rachel, a staff member at the resort. After working through a few rounds of cocktails, her easygoing nature and relaxed outlook on life slowly start to pull him back from the brink... Whether Peter can truly move past his ex and reclaim his own life remains to be seen.
