Ugh, I’ve been absolutely wrecked all night—just constant vomiting and watery diarrhea. 🤷 It’s been brutal. I’ve thrown up about four times now, and honestly, it feels like I’m just losing water since I haven't eaten anything since noon. I feel so incredibly lightheaded, and now I’m actually terrified to even sip water because I just threw up everything I tried. I’m seriously worried about getting dehydrated here... does anyone know how to make the vomiting stop? Also, is chamomile tea okay? I think I read somewhere—maybe in some health blog or something—that chamomile can actually trigger more vomiting, which is the last thing I need right now. The weirdest part is that after I vomit, things seem to settle down for a tiny bit, and I start thinking, "Okay, maybe I'm finally over this," but then about 45 minutes later, my stomach starts cramping like crazy and it all comes rushing back—either more vomiting or, well, the runs. What should I do???

You really need to stay hydrated. Try sending someone to a CVS or Walgreens to pick up some Pedialyte. Honestly, if you can't even keep that down, you’re probably looking at an IV drip at the hospital.

So, what’s actually going on with you? Did you accidentally swallow something weird or something?
You running a fever too?

Exactly. Pedialyte works wonders! It basically has everything you'd find in an IV drip anyway.👍

😂

Quick question for any dog owners out there—did your pup swallow something they shouldn't have?

Honestly, maybe they just ate something weird or hung out with another dog that had a bug.

Honestly, you probably just picked up some nasty stomach bug
it’s nothing to lose sleep over, really
usually, by tomorrow you should start feeling way better and that vomiting should finally quit
the beginning is the absolute worst part—just total misery
try to take at least tiny little sips of water whenever you can
I remember when I was sick, even a single sip of water would send me straight back to the bathroom
but after a bit, some plain sparkling water actually helped me settle down
drink some herbal tea or chamomile—nothing fancy, just keep it simple👍 keep sipping it as much as you can handle
once you feel like you can actually eat again, try sticking to something light—maybe some salty rice or chicken
and definitely grab some non-carbonated mineral water to replenish all those electrolytes you lost
your body is going to feel completely wiped out
obviously, if this drags on for more than a day or two, just get yourself to the ER

☕...man, we're all being pretty sensitive here, aren't we? If that kind of comparison is what's jumping to your mind, then fair enough, but it hasn't crossed my head at all... I'm thinking it's more likely some kind of microorganism, and I mean, seriously, why couldn't a woman experience those exact symptoms after eating something spoiled or just anything that wasn't quite right?
I mean, summer is basically the perfect season for stuff like that to happen, don't you think?

Oh, for sure. I find it hilarious when people blame everything on some random virus, completely ignoring all the junk they’re actually shoving down their throats. And as for swallowing stuff—hey, a little laughter never hurt anyone. You actually gave me a good laugh (I'm a huge dog person 🤣), so you clearly don't take everything so seriously

Run to the drugstore for some Pepto-Bismol. If this keeps up for another day, you’re going to need to head straight to the ER. They'll probably have to put you on an IV and actually track down whatever is causing the issue.

Angela Wright-why go with Linux, though? What's wrong with activated charcoal?

The thing is, Linux is packed with lactobacilli and other live freeze-dried lactic acid
bacteria that actually rebuild your gut flora and get everything back to baseline. Activated charcoal just acts like a sponge that sucks up all the good, living stuff along with the bad. You shouldn't overdo it with the charcoal.

Back in the day, a group of us from college were celebrating graduation in Washington, D.C., caught a nasty bout of dysentery, and Linex was the only thing that saved our skins.🙏

I never go anywhere without it.

thanks, I always keep some activated charcoal on hand, partly because of my pets. Even though I don’t really struggle with diarrhea—I’ve only dealt with it once, honestly—I still get pretty anxious about it because I'm naturally thin and have been dealing with that ulcerative colitis diagnosis.

Feeling a bit better today... honestly, just some chamomile and a hot cup of herbal tea was pretty much all I needed to turn things around... I think I read somewhere once—though it sounds totally nonsensical to me—that people recommend drinking Coca-Cola when you're dealing with nausea/vomiting... does anyone actually know if there's any truth to that? Or is it just an old wives' tale?
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE ADVICE!

I was thinking back to this one time my godparents' son was over in Germany and he couldn't stop throwing up; the doctor there actually told them—even though he admitted it wasn't standard practice—that they should try giving the kid some Coca-Cola in tiny little sips. I have absolutely no clue why that would even work, honestly 😕
(but apparently, it did)

Coca-Cola is a killer. It wrecks everything in its path, including the very stuff meant to fix a spill. Plus, it’s loaded with caramel, which just turns your digestive system into concrete.

If you're dealing with dehydration, rosehip tea is your best bet.

As for Coca-Cola—absolutely not.

Wait, what? Is Coca-Cola actually apologizing in person now? That’s just wild!😱

Honestly, Coca-Cola saved my life—literally. I thought I was a goner for a second there, but after having one, I felt like a whole new person.

Maybe you picked up some kind of gut infection or something along those lines... the main thing is to stay hydrated, but if you can't even keep water down without throwing up, you really need to head to the ER and get an IV.

Look, I don't know exactly how it works, but soda and crackers are my go-to whenever I'm dealing with vomiting or diarrhea. And they work. I don't care about the "mechanisms" or whatever—as long as it stops the misery, I'm good. 😁
