My doctor handed me a referral for neurology today due to some tremors—so I went ahead and called to schedule an appointment, and the receptionist sounded genuinely concerned, telling me to come in first thing tomorrow morning.
Now, here’s the catch: I have never stepped foot in a hospital, I’ve never even had a single injection in my life, and when it comes to doctors and medical jargon, I am a complete amateur. So, I’m curious—what exactly should I be expecting tomorrow? Because, quite frankly, I’m starting to panic a little. 🙈

First off, they’re gonna do a neurological exam—checking your nerves in your hands, knees, legs, all that. Then you'll probably have an EEG, maybe some more testing after that, and then likely a CT scan or an MRI. Don't sweat it too much. 🙂

I can't say for certain what kind of tremor we're talking about here, but the process usually starts with a standard neurological exam. You'll sit down with a neurologist and go over your medical history, along with anything relevant regarding your family's health. Honestly, a specialist can often pin down a diagnosis just from that initial conversation and physical assessment. If they can't be sure, they’ll move on to blood work—checking thyroid levels, copper levels, or even urine tests—to rule out things like thyroid issues or heavy metal poisoning. They need to make sure it isn't something systemic before assuming it's strictly neurological. Imaging like a CT scan or an MRI is actually pretty rare in these cases; doctors generally only order those if there are other glaring neurological red flags present.

Well... that was more or less how it went. I need to head back for a full battery of lab work
and a CT scan. Mid-December—if I’m still standing, that is. But honestly, that’s a whole different conversation. 🙄

To whom it may concern,
I am aware this topic has been discussed before, but I prefer to revisit an existing thread rather than cluttering the forum with another one.
I am urgently seeking recommendations for a neurologist who possesses specialized experience treating patients who have suffered eclampsia following childbirth, specifically those presenting with severe HELP syndrome, currently in a medically induced coma, and suffering from a brainstem hemorrhage in the pons.
Please, if you have any information at all, I am asking for your help as this involves a member of my own family.
THANK YOU.
