I could really use some help or maybe just some solid advice because I’ve hit a wall where the hair on the right side of my beard just... stopped growing.
I'm 28, and honestly, I usually have a pretty thick, full beard, so this is totally out of nowhere—everything was fine until about six months ago.
Then, out of nowhere, the hair on the right side just quit showing up, and yeah, it’s been stuck like that ever since.
It’s driving me absolutely nuts because it looks super obvious, and it basically means I can't even rock the beard look anymore without looking patchy.
I actually went to see a dermatologist about it, but they were zero help at all, acting like this is just "totally normal" for me.🤷
Thanks.

switch dermatologists

Look, obviously this isn't standard practice for us—but honestly, what can we even tell you? We aren't exactly experts in this field ourselves.

If that patch where the hair isn't growing looks like a fingerprint—you know, kind of an oval shape—there's a chance you're dealing with alopecia areata. That can be triggered by stress or even if your body is fighting off something else, like an infection or inflammation near a tooth root or a sore throat.

Maybe you’ve got some kind of issue in your soft tissue or something, which would explain why they aren't growing. You better dig into this until you find out what's actually going on, because THIS IS NOT NORMAL

Thanks for the hand here.
About that sore throat thing, I don't think it’s a tooth issue or anything, mostly because I can't even remember the last time my teeth gave me grief—though hey, you never know with this body, right? Plus, the area is tiny, like, just the size of a thumbprint or something.
I reckon I’ll probably just have to go see a private dermatologist and get it sorted out.

That’s pretty typical when you have chronic inflammation at the tip of a tooth root. Those things usually don't hurt, so you wouldn't even know they were there until you get an X-ray. It might be a smart move to check in with your dentist and get some imaging done on those teeth where you've had root canals, because that's often where these little issues hide.

It could also just be stress or something else entirely.
