The assassination attempt on the President during his visit to the anti-terror summit in Salamanca—it's being looked at from several different points of view.

It’s tense enough and moves fast enough that you aren't sitting there wondering "Why did they...?" or "How did that...?"—though there are certainly reasons to wonder occasionally.

Convenient timing for a Thursday release, right before Bush. 😁

Word on the street is The New York Times wants nothing to do with the movie because of its plot. They’re acting all high and mighty now, but they were the first ones in line when it came to publishing fake interviews.

On a different note, the first half of the film is actually pretty engaging since you see the same events unfold from eight different Point of View. However, the last 20 minutes are absolute garbage. It's a shame, really, because that car chase was one of the best-shot sequences I've seen in a while.

and totally unnecessary

The movie has about as much connection to reality as Harry Potter. I mean, we see firsthand exactly what kind of security theater it takes just to let the President sleep soundly in our major cities.
I wonder if the Secret Service will give both Clinton and Clinton a thorough background check before they ever let them near Bush.

Actually, Harry Potter was based on a true story. ☕

I had the chance to catch a screening at AMC Theatres a few days ago, but I did a quick scan of the reviews first. Honestly? They absolutely trashed it. I decided to skip it and save my money for something else instead.

It doesn't matter if it’s unrealistic; it’s still a solid watch. As for that chase scene—those stars are unstoppable. 😁

I do have one question, though. What was the point of that intelligence officer helping the terrorists? He grabs the rifle and starts yelling about heading West during the chase. Felt like a bit of filler to me, don't you think? 🤔

Caught it today—right when I expected to.

The movie is great.
👍👍
If you're into thrillers, high tension, or just want an engaging story, highly recommend it.
👍

It actually gave me some Cloverfield vibes...

That character actually makes perfect sense within the plot.

Yeah, those are the exact people who live for low-rent American "thrillers"
—you know the type. Some cop staring at a woman peeing, while the rest of the movie is just endless drinking, shootouts, rapes, and constant swearing. To critics like that, that garbage is a masterpiece... the absolute peak of intellectual achievement.🙄

...let's see if we can actually pull some strings to get you a promotion—maybe then you'll finally have enough authority to deal with those unrefined jerks 😉 😁

northerncrane4 hit the nail on the head.
Go watch the movie again. If I actually tried to explain it to you, I'd end up spoiling a third of the damn plot.

If you laid it all out for him, you'd realize there's really only one reason anyone would bother paying for a ticket and sitting through this thing. Just like so many others before it, this movie leans entirely on a cheap, desperate twist at the finish line.
It reminds me of something a character once said in a truly great film: I'll tell you a secret. The last act makes a film. The End, and you got a hit. You can have flaws, problems, but The End, and you've got a hit. 🙂

Personally? I don't give a damn about the twist or how it ends. If a movie runs over ninety minutes and stays engaging or teaches me something—or in this specific case, just keeps me entertained—then it did its job.

Can someone shoot me a DM with an explanation? I’m just not seeing how he was actually useful to the terrorists.

I wouldn't say the movie was bad or anything, but I definitely wouldn't be rushing to give it a perfect score.
The way they show the plot from a few different angles is actually pretty decent—it keeps things moving—but man, that ending was just meh, which kind of ruins the whole vibe for me.
The acting is just okay (not a huge fan of Quaid, Whitaker is just your typical guy, and Zurer actually did a solid job), plus the CGI looks super fake in a couple of spots...

Bottom line—it’s a one-time watch, maybe good if you've got a boring afternoon to kill.

Honestly, I feel like any single episode of the series 24 is ten times more gripping and intense than this whole movie ever managed to be... It was actually more engaging at the very start when I didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet... and honestly, it probably would’ve been a much better film if I had just stayed in the dark about how it all played out.

As for the action sequences, sure, they happen... but I just don't get it—that first big kick in the alleyway, where both cars were supposedly going full throttle, and then in the very next scene, those doors look like someone just gave them a light tap with their foot 🤷 (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but Quaid seems way too unbreakable for my liking)... and don't even get me started on that massive truck getting kicked in the alley 👎
