I’m hoping I’ve landed this question in the right subforum...

Generally speaking, I’m quite fond of wearing skirts and dresses—really am—but I’ve always avoided them during the summer months. The reason being, quite simply, that my thighs tend to rub together whenever I walk. And I suppose, combined with the heat and sweat, it leads to these awful chafing issues. It manifests as this incredibly red, painful area—an irritation that sometimes even turns into a rash or little sores... It’s honestly just endlessly frustrating, and I would love nothing more than to finally be able to wear a skirt in the July heat without this happening. Does anyone have any clever ideas to prevent this, or perhaps some personal experiences they could share?

thanks for the help

Before you head out, try rubbing some body lotion or even a heavy moisturizer on the inside of your thighs. Use quite a bit of it—you want it to feel pretty slick. Trust me, it works wonders.

I always keep some baby powder in my bag—specifically the kind meant to prevent chafing and rashes. Whenever I get the chance, I just dab a little on the inside of my thighs. Since I started doing that, the chafing has completely disappeared. My main issue has always been dealing with thicker legs. 😁

I find myself facing this exact same predicament. My legs are built in such a specific way that I seem destined to wear out every single pair of jeans I own right in that one spot. I suppose I’m still searching for a way to actually resolve it.

Thanks for all the input 🙂

I actually gave that cream and lotion combo a shot... though, honestly—to see any kind of actual result—I ended up burning through half a tube just prepping for one single night out, haha 😁

As for powder... hmm... it tends to be a bit drying, doesn't it? Not quite as smooth as that other cream-based option 🙂

but it’s certainly worth a try... 👍

Anyone else have some thoughts? 🤷

Baby powder / discussion

Anyone who spends a significant amount of time working in heavy rubber gear knows the drill 🙂...you dust down your suit, hit the armpits, neck, and groin, then finally squeeze yourself in 🙂

Not sure about the powder, but I'll tell you this—Vaseline does the trick if you just slather it on.

Oh, I meant vulcanized rubber, neoprene, and lycra—definitely not latex! :P

I suppose you could just grab some sheer pantyhose, maybe a 10 or 15 denier count, and keep them at mid-thigh length or even a bit shorter under a dress, if that's what you're after.

Apparently, you can get 100% ignition if you smear a powder-based deodorant over a critical area—basically any stick formula that uses powders...

I dealt with the exact same mess before—tried everything from baby powder to just some basic drugstore body lotion... eventually figured out how to fix it. Lost enough weight in my thighs that they don't even rub together anymore... sort of...

Hey!

Listen, ladies... reading about these heat rash issues—I dealt with the exact same thing for ages until a friend finally pointed me toward this natural lotion that actually worked. It was a lifesaver.
Seriously, I’ve tried everything under the sun. Foundations, creams, whatever else you can name. Years of wasted time testing every product on the market.
Nothing did a damn thing until I found that specific lotion. 🙏
You won't find it at CVS or Walgreens; it's more of an independent, direct-to-consumer kind of thing.

My boyfriend's genius hack:
Grab some stay-up stockings with wide lace tops—the kind with that grippy silicone strip so they stay put—and wear them under a skirt. Works like a charm... no more raw skin or irritation.
I deal with the exact same thing. It's not even about being "thick," it's just how I'm built, but it ruins my clothes and makes summer shorts impossible because the chafing stings like crazy. And you can't just wear tights all day or you'll melt...
I'm actually looking for a fix for my pants—maybe some kind of clear fabric or liner I could sew into the inner thigh area so the material doesn't shred...
Time to go on a hunt for something...

My husband has this redness in his groin area, some peeling skin, and a pretty unpleasant odor. We’re thinking it might be a yeast infection since I’ve been dealing with my own version of that for years.
Since he’s refusing to see a doctor over something like this, has anyone dealt with this before? Any suggestions for over-the-counter stuff we can grab at a CVS or Walgreens?

Any advice out there?
Thanks

Canesten cream—I’m sure most of you have already dealt with this if you're struggling with yeast infections. If things don't start looking better after a couple of days, you need to go see a doctor. Period. It’s entirely possible you've developed a bacterial superinfection, which means you'll need a combined treatment approach to actually fix the problem.

We applied some Desitin, obviously, but it’s just too greasy. Now his skin is chafing even worse when he walks, and it feels like he’s sweating more because of it.

Tried to pick up some Desitin powder today, but it was completely wiped out at the local CVS. They said they have no idea when it'll be back in stock, so I settled for some Desitin liquid solution instead. Let's see how that goes.

Ma'am,

Based on your description, we’re likely looking at one of two things: a fungal infection—most probably Candida—or contact irritant dermatitis, specifically intertrigo caused by skin friction. There are other possibilities, of course, but the treatment protocols for these are entirely different.

It would be best for your husband to see a doctor. He needs a proper diagnosis through a swab test so he can get the right prescription.

Best regards. 🙂
