Lip piercing help?

Hey there, smart people of this forum...🙂
I have a bit of a question for you all. As the title suggests, I’ve had a lip piercing since July, and everything was going smoothly—as long as I kept it clean and didn't take it out...
The thing is, my job requires me to take it out now—just how things work in my line of work—and that’s where the trouble starts.
When I take it out in the morning before heading into work, everything seems fine. But by the time I get home and try to put it back in, it’s a little tough to get through (which is expected), but the real issue is that some white discharge builds up after a while, and there’s a bit of oozing coming from the site...
Hopefully, I’ve made myself clear enough—does anyone have a solution for what I'm dealing with!?

Yeah, just take the piercing out and leave it alone.

The hole will probably start to close up, and every single time you try to force it back in, you're just tearing the tissue again... that’s likely why it keeps leaking.

That’s pretty much where my head was at, too!

Look, I’ve got a lip piercing myself. You start getting this buildup—sort of like earwax, if you can believe it. Now, I only wear mine a few times a year, and while the gunk usually dries up, it stays kind of moist for a few hours. It’s just saliva, basically. Between the acidity in your mouth, coffee, cigarettes, breakfast, dust... everything gets in there, you know? It's fine, though. If you actually want to keep the piercing, grab some Bivacin ointment and dab a little on every now and then to ward off infection. As for the jewelry itself, just hit it with some alcohol occasionally to stay ahead of any germs. That’s my tried-and-true method.

Personally, I actually love my career—and I love my pier too—so I have no intention of giving up either. I’m confident I can find a way to balance both...

That's the spirit. I'm constantly scaling back my own commitments because society is exhausting, but my advice? Hold onto what you love. It'll work out. And hey, you can always quit later if it all goes south.

So, why is a lip piercing way more risky than an ear piercing?

Spot on, especially considering the mouth is a massive breeding ground for bacteria—not to mention how much more concentrated things get compared to, say, an earlobe. Messing with lip and tongue piercings can get ugly fast.
It’s pretty obvious that the piercing site is prone to infection, so I honestly think it would be better to just head to a doctor and get a prescription for some antibiotic ointment. Picking at it is only going to flare up the inflammation, and you could end up with a nasty situation on your hands.

I’d probably grab one of those peach cobblers, though I’m not sure if it would actually look good on me. :/

I guess I'm just curious if anyone here has done it before. Does it hurt much? Is there a high risk of infection or anything like that? A little insight would really help me out 🙂
