Hot Fuzz is a mediocre film consisting entirely of hollow jokes and mindless humor. Everything is predictable. Therefore, the way they market it—as a comedy—already fails.
The plot is unconvincing and dull. The protagonist is a cop who is perfect by every possible standard (where else does that exist besides movies? It's a tired cliché) and then he gets transferred to a tiny town where everything is perfectly peaceful and orderly (more clichés, please), while behind the scenes, the whole village has actually gone insane. (???) Come on. 🤣 It couldn't be less imaginative if it tried.

It was all shot in completely uninteresting locations. You see nothing new in the film. It isn't educational in any conceivable way, and all you get from it is an hour and a half of wasted life that you could have used SO much better elsewhere.

And yet, you still claim women don't understand cinema. I have written reviews for film scores and motion pictures, which alone puts me ahead of you. Be careful about acting superior next time.

That's the whole point. Did you even see the trailer? Do you even know what kind of movies these guys usually make? Like, Shaun of the Dead or Run Fatboy, Run. The whole goal is to poke fun at those kinds of movies, especially if you're looking strictly at the plot.🙄

If a movie pokes fun at specific films or an entire genre, then it qualifies as a parody. For instance, Shaun of the Dead was clearly making fun of the zombie genre...

But apparently, we've got the world's greatest experts right here in this thread... so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut

Just because some critics panned it doesn't mean it isn't worth watching personally.

But anyway, getting back to the point, the movie is great. The core concepts they used are just brilliant.
Simon Pegg is quickly becoming my favorite actor.

And yeah, it’s a parody. It’s not just poking fun at specific tropes, but it takes aim at action movies as a whole—and it does it damn well. 😁

The plot itself has to be a bit ridiculous, which is exactly what you expect from a legit action flick anyway. 😬

It’s hardly my fault there aren't any Hollywood heartthrobs in this one for you to obsess over.
Nobody is claiming it's some cinematic masterpiece—it's just fun, which is exactly what a comedy should be. Though, perhaps I'm biased... I've always had a soft spot for that dry, witty sense of humor.

As for the setting being "boring"—the story takes place in a small American town. It wouldn't exactly make sense if the Grand Canyon or the Pyramids were looming in the background, would it?
Not educational? Well, if you're looking for a lecture, go watch a documentary or maybe an old sitcom. Honestly, those two critiques just prove my point...

And unlike you, I haven't insulted anyone.
