Setting the acting and the production aside, I still think Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is a better film than A New Hope, at least when it comes to the actual plot.

And you🙄

btw, I'm not fighting with lonemarlin40. She's cool😍
just debating...☕

And anyone who hasn't watched all the Star Wars films probably doesn't care about this part of the story anyway, so they likely aren't even reading. In a few days, they'll...

For lonemarlin40...

Oh yeah, the sore spot. Hayden Christensen. Knew you were gonna bring him up😬but I’m not sweating it since this debate was over on the Star Wars Q&A forum... can't remember which thread. All I know is everyone else ran out of actual arguments🥳
I'm guessing you haven't seen Shattered Glass or maybe even Life as a House.☕
And everyone talks trash about how bad Hayden is, but when you ask why, it's always like: "he looks like his mom's little boy," or "he's gay"...🙂 That's all I ever hear☕...
He isn't even a little bit worse in Revenge of the Sith, if anything he's better in Attack of the Clones...
Maybe rewatch the movie, since it hasn't been that long since you said it was one of your least favorites...
Like the scene by the fireplace on the red couch, or the one with his mom, or even the one in my sig... honestly, Hayden is great in Episode II. It's not about taste, it's just the truth, even if he seems super unlikable to most of you guys...

Ewan McGregor was bad in Episode I and Natalie Portman in Episode III?!
Not a chance. Both were some of the best actors in the whole Star Wars franchise. Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Ian McDiarmid, and Liam Neeson are what made TPM even watchable...
Personally, I think Samuel L. Jackson is crap in Episode III, yet you guys are out here trashing the small, talented actors👎 while almost all the new cast is better than the old trilogy crew...

And chemistry? Not sure about that. Anakin and Padmé moved me way more than Han and Leia did. Their connection has chemistry, but they're just too cheesy. Desperate in Episode VI, and pretty fun in Episodes IV and V

Later🙂

Btw, Xavi if you hadn't deleted my post immediately🙂 I'm not fighting, just making points. I've got nothing against lonemarlin40, actually...😍 so peace to you too😘

Only Master Windu brings any real quality to the new sequels. It’s a damn shame he died like that, totally cheated. 🙏

Jerry Martin19, look, I’ve never actually gone too hard on Hayden unless I’m just trying to get a rise out of you, because honestly, the guy is a perfectly decent actor outside of those few specific scenes we’ve already deconstructed about a hundred times over—and if your memory is failing you, go ahead and dig through 😛 to see what I said before. But, if you’re going to try and compare how they handled the chemistry between Han and Leia versus Anakin and Padmé, then we might actually have ourselves a real debate here:
Both relationships really kick off during some sort of high-stakes crisis, but with Han and Leia, that tension actually builds into genuine chemistry, whereas back in Episode II, when Anakin sees Padmé for the first time after what, ten years? I still can't quite shake that image of the kid from my head, though I know deep down it isn't really Hayden's fault. To be fair, his scenes with Natalie Portman are actually among his better moments, yet there’s just zero palpable attraction between them. On the flip side, Harrison Ford played his parts with such effortless charisma; just think about that one moment you posted somewhere once: Leia says, "I love you," and Han just goes, "I know."

SPOILER ALERT...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking you, but Samuel L. Jackson is a total pain... and you know why? Because he told Lucas that even though he knew his character had to die in Revenge of the Sith—since Darth Vader wiped out basically all the Jedi except for Yoda and Obi-Wan—he didn't want to go out like some loser. He wanted to go out like a real dude. In the movie, it’s like Samuel L. Jackson is just acting like, "Look Men, I'm the one who's Mace Windu in Star Wars..."👎 👎 👎 🤮

Samuel L. Jackson is the absolute GOAT... Loser... When it comes to Star Wars...

Don't go thinking I'm just making this up, I've actually got proof...

SPOILER: Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu) basically told George Lucas that if he was going down, he was doing it with style—he refused to let Mace Windu go out "like some sucker." He actually went on an American late-night talk show and confirmed it, too. He made sure his exit was meaningful... definitely not going out like some punk...

SPOILER ALERT...

I wanted to leave this all spoiler-free, but just in case some girl who hasn't seen the movie yet stumbles onto this, I figured I had to drop the spoilers...🙂

I mean, come on. You’d expect one of the most powerful members of the Council to go out in a blaze of glory, not just die some random, pathetic way—like getting taken out by a stray blaster bolt from some random stormtrooper... 🙂

The acting in Episodes I, II, and III is just desperate. The only exceptions are Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, and Yoda 😁. As for everyone else, they’re either giving poor performances (Hayden) or seem completely checked out (McGregor, Jackson).
The dialogue in Episodes I, II, and III is beyond abysmal. The motivation behind Anakin turning to the dark side and murdering kids? When I saw it in the theater, I literally said, "Don't screw with me." Out loud. In a movie theater. I almost got kicked out. 😁
What keeps those three episodes afloat is the Star Wars name, the special effects, and pure nostalgia for the original films. It could have been much better—it really could. We miss Harrison. And we miss Darth Vader.

Not really, because when it comes to that specific moment, Harrison Ford didn't actually nail the script line (I think the quote was supposed to be "I love you too" 🤮), so he just threw out "I know." Personally, I'm glad he did, because that scripted version would've been total garbage...👎
As for Anakin and Padmé, they're a more serious couple, and it's not true that there's no attraction there; it's just that most of you watched that movie like you were watching Titanic.😬 I'd suggest you all go rewatch Attack of the Clones—and not just to shut up Jerry Martin19, but actually watch the movie. Then you'll realize that stuff like the Obi-Wan and Jango Fett scenes (who, in my opinion and many others', isn't even on the level of Boba Fett) and those lame C-3PO and R2-D2 bits (which don't even come close to the original trilogy) are pretty pointless. It's the Anakin and Padmé story, Anakin's mom, and everything involving Anakin's whole vibe (the arrogance, the impulsiveness...) that actually keeps the movie going...😉 You know I'm right. Think about it...🙂

SpoilerIt’s not like George Lucas intended to kill him off like some amateur gunslinger, but just listen to what Samuel L. Jackson said 🤮 three years earlier during Episode II when he was specifically asking for a purple Lightsaber... 🤮 basically, Samuel L. Jackson perfectly described himself with that "like some sucka" line 🤮 👎

I'll pretend I didn't see this nonsense, especially regarding Christopher Lee...

So, like I said before, I totally get where you're coming from regarding those scenes between Anakin and Padmé being some of the best parts—I mean, I hear you, I really do—but I just don't feel like they actually acted in love. Sure, the glances and the facial expressions are fine, but the physical stuff, you know, like that overly dramatic "hold my hand" type of movement, feels way too staged and stiff. It lacks that genuine spark, that natural charisma you'd expect from two people actually falling for each other.
I know Harrison Ford was basically messing around with that line, but honestly, it turned out legendary because of how much attitude he threw into it. For me, that moment, along with the scene where they're tucked away in that cramped little room in the black ship, are easily the two most memorable moments involving the two of them.

Yeah, but you said they were stiff when they weren't...🙂

Harrison definitely saved the script 🙏

☕

Look, I've been a fan of Christopher Lee since his days playing Dracula, so... Honestly, maybe he was off his game too. 🤣

Look, it’s tough for any Star Wars fan to admit the newer films are bad. I’m a fan myself—I caught all three of those in theaters during their premieres (plus several more times)—but they just aren't good. Like I said before: the dialogue is clunky, the acting is subpar, and while the high-level concept works, the actual execution is full of holes. It is what it is.

But you're not wrong, right? Bad dialogue?!

Give me an example...🙂

Because Christopher Lee can thank them for that...

Listen, buddy, even the birds in the trees know that Samuel L. Jackson never dies as a "loser." He always stays Cool. If you don't like that, it just means you're working for the dark side, and honestly, you need to be taken out.

🤣 He’s an amazing actor normally, but this is just way too much forced cringe for me. "Samuel L. don't want to die like some sucka" 🤣 give me a break. Did you guys actually hear him say that?! 😵

I honestly thought Samuel L. might reach that Morgan Freeman level of greatness, but my illusions are officially shattered... ☕ This really sucks. Like, this sucks so hard, straight from the heart... 😬

Comparing him to Morgan Freeman? Please. Comparing Samuel L. Jackson to some washed-up old man is a joke. There isn't a single movie with Jackson that can be bad. NONE. Even if the movie is absolute garbage, it’s still cool for the minutes he’s actually on screen.

You see that bolded part? You just outed yourself...

The Phantom Menace is actually a solid movie...🙂
By the way, have you seen The Shawshank Redemption?...🤔

Oh yeah, where was Samuel L. Jackson?

btw, don't get it twisted, I'm not saying Samuel L. Jackson is a bad actor—far from it... he just let me down big time...

He ended up playing some clueless guy who barely knew what was going on...👎
